Interesting things you did not know about me Thread

Thought i would start a thread where people can post interesting things that might have happened to them or someone they know.

Maybe you appeared on a tv show, played a certain sport for your country/county/region, maybe you got an award you are proud of or it can just be something quirky?

I appeared on the news once because the place where i worked was on strike and my views on the picket line were aired.

I have been playing short mat/outdoor bowls for many years and decided to try the Indoor bowls 2 years ago and i made the Irish Squad for the first time in my life and hope to get a cap for my country in the next year or so which would be a proud moment for me.

One of my best friends is a writer on the Sesame Street Productions that has gone world wide and writes for the one in the uk called "Sesame Tree"
He also had a small part in a movie made in Ireland recently which was directed by Tom Hanks who he got to meet.

The most famous Footballers i met in person where Ray Kennedy & Emile Heskey.

as for tv, been on a couple of shows..

the company i worked for appeared on a show called 'flying start' about new companies who were doing well, presented by tony wilson. we came second, so i was sat in the audience for the qualifier and final. where we got beat by a welsh guy who made rubber dingy s

also many years ago i took my then 12 yr old nephew to see WWF in Sheffield, which was shown live on sky, we were sat near the front , saw hulk hogan, the under taker etc.., it also came out on vhs, you could see my nephew jumping up and down

but my fav was when i went to see James in Manchester, it was their last show b4 they broke up, and was filmed and came out on dvd, i can see where i was in the crowd

also been to see a couple of concerts in the phils which were shown on tv..

    as for meeting famous people

    tony wilson as i've said
anthony robbins - google him if you dont know him - a giant he is

and i got to be within a few feet of president Arroyo, who waved to me and the misses as she sped off in her convoy after a regine velasquez concert.

Having been to the same school, and lived in Clevedon for 12 years, I find it funny that the school was remembered for a druggie called Sid

My first brush with famous people.....
I was very young "commis" waiter at the Quirinale Hotel in Rome, and I was asked to help prepare and serve the buffet in the small function room annexed to the Rome Opera house.
During the interval, of the "AIDA" I was gobsmacked to see enter in the room most of the top Italian politicians of the time, the Pres., the Pm Aldo Moro (The guy that got kidnapped and executed by the red brigades years later), and the secretary general of the UN U Thant. Plus actors and actresses.
    After that........
    Willi Brandt in Bonn.
    Franz Beckenbauer
    James Garner In LA
Renato Pagliari (Renee and Renato fame.QE II)
Princess Anne, in Mold of all places (Clwyd Teathre)
Bruno Conti in our home town. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nettuno

And I am sort of related to Gareth Jones (Gaz Top) being my ex wife's brother...

Oh... Nearly forgot..... Cardinal Ottaviani was my great-great uncle....

There are quite a few but here are some:

I once had a brief telecon with a very angry Artist formerly known as Prince
I came 3rd I a national singing contest during my late teens
I introduced a former premiership footballer/TV host to television
I've appeared/featured on TV 4 times, radio, a couple of times and national magazines/newspapers a few times twice
I spent a night in a police cell after being arrested on suspicion of ABH following an mistaken identity attack from 9 Turks
Be responsible with little so that you can be trusted with much!!

I was appeared on Channel 2 "HOY GISING" in 1994 twice and was complaining about my Mom's farm right of way. Almost all farmers sold their farm to become a big subdivision/village in Sta. Rosa and we decided not to sell ours and Developer was not happy for that. Developer didn't give us right of way. So my Mom and Dad crawl to get into the farm because farm was surrounded with barb wire. Media was the solution to our problem,we got right of way. I have also bought a property from developer in case they will not give us Right of Way.

I am planning to make a website about our city. It's like a foundation website where you can see information about our town. Who's who, Where to Eat, Gallery, etc. but I can't really do it perfectly at this time. Needs helppp! I'll be proud if this will be done.

    Hi,

I worked overseas in the oil business as an electronics technician initially then as a logistics manager for 23 years:
Angola, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Brunei, Cameroun, Chile, China, Colombia, Congo, Denmark, Egypt, Eire, Equatorial Guinea, France, Gabon, Germany, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Indonesia, Italy, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Malaysia, N. Ireland, Nigeria, Norway, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, U.A.E., U.K., U.S.A., Venezuela, Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Zaire (now Congo).

Played football for Colwyn Bay when I was 20.

Sat next to George Harrison on a plane to Spain for a while - we just talked about our place of birth - Liverpool.

Lived on a farm with 24,000 sheep in Argentina once (Don't get jealous our Welsh friends).

Some of the reasons why filipinas are silent once they read thread like this is because they may feel that their achievements are not on a par with them, but they do understand the post.

Also, some are far too modest to brag about their achievements.

Having said that my husband has played with some top bands and used to have James Morrison's mum as his lead singer. He used to teach James some chords on the guitar when James was only 9.

" The people who mean something to your life are not rated "the best" don't have the most money, haven't won the greatest prizes....
They are the ones who care about you, take care of you, those who, no matter what, stay close by... "

I have sung in concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
Appeared on regional and national TV and Radio.
I know Dec's family (as in Ant and Dec) and sang for his brother's ordination to the priesthood.
As a teenager I played Sunday afternoon football with Chris Waddle.
Went pub crawling in Newcastle with Gazza and mutual friends from Liverpool, in the eighties (think he was with Spurs at the time).

I thought i would start the thread for different reasons with who we have met that is famous being part of that but also that the Filipinos on here to share somethings also. Even if you think its not that important it could well be very interesting to the members on here.

Maybe you have a simple dream that you want to reach that you can share about.

It could be places that you have always wanted to visit.

One of the countries i always wanted to go to and thought was only a dream came true about 5 years ago when i went to Africa. I got to spend a couple of weeks in Burkina Faso & Ghana and it was everything i dreamed of and more. In a way it was like many in the Philippines who struggle from day to day but yet always smiling.

    you are so right John,
I always find great interest in the goings on in the farm at Ligaya's place. I wanted to join the men doing "TANGLE" clever way of diverting the main river for irrigation, drive the KULIG LIG or hand tractor and pump the water with the big hand pump. I find her neighbours interesting and the kids great fun... even when they catch this big flying beetle and then use it as a toy by tying fishing wire round the beetles body but leaving the wings free to wizz around.

I also get amazed when we are hiking one time on Lamma island just off Hong Kong and Ligaya starts picking wierd fruits, berries and flowers and explains each one to me. I might have a couple of degrees but her "knowledge" is fascinating to me and her "common sense" far outweighs mine. I think this a trait of all our asawas.. great common sense and an ability to pick up just about anything you put in front of them

Come on ladies don't put yourselfs down.. you're amazing
Live your life for a reason and don't worry be happy

    Very interesting, thanks for sharing!!

I believe every member on here has some interesting things that has happened to them or have a dream of what they would like to do or places they would like to go?

So if you are normally shy then this is the time to come out of your shell.
