am i in labour or not?

been having braxton hicks since 3am in the morning...
i started to time my contractions at 7pm... and they were 5 to 10 minutes apart.
then started to write down the time again at 9pm and they are 3 to 6 minutes apart.
i can still feel my baby is moving and no blood show or whatever they call it...
don't want to go to the hospital yet because it might be a false labour.
i can't sleep so i decided to get online and see what i can find browsing about labour.
and now writing it here in the forum just to have something to do and hoping it will divert the pain.

Hi amiga. If you have contractions that are regularly 5 mins apart or less and these are getting gradually stronger, it is likely that you are in labour, especially if the pain is eminating from your lower back and pubic area and this pain is not relieved by walking about. In the first instanxce I would call the Maternity Assessment Uinit at your local; hospital and consult with them. I suspect that unless you are at the 4-5 contractions per minute you will not be admitted onto a delvery suite unless its different in your area.

If your waters break at anytimne, you should always make your way to the hosptal. All the best and God bless you all.
Be responsible with little so that you can be trusted with much!!

Oh dear I hate it when that happens but I suggest you phone your midwife just to be sure. When all the contractions becomes unbearable...you will know when its time. If water breaks just go straight to the hospital. Good luck and keep us posted!

    Signs of Labour

1.Regular contractions- You may have been feeling contractions ( braxton hicks contractions, when your abdomen gets tight and then realxes) throughout the pregnancy. Lately you will have become more aware of them. When they start to come regularly, last more than 30 seconds and begin to feel stronger, labour may have started. Gradually they will become longer, stronger and more frequent.

    2. Other signs ( You may or may not have the following signs)

    a. Backache
    b. Show - either before labour starts or early in labour.
    c. The waters breaking
    d. Nausea or vomiting
    e. diarrhoea

Phone your midwife chryss as soon as possible.
    Goodluck and praying for you

Yes they are right, phone your midwife or maternity suite when you are experiencing the signs enumerated above... It doesn't matter whether you are having practice contractions or not, best to notify them as they will check your BP, Baby's heartbeat etc... (I had 2 series of false alarms: On my 7th month (stayed in the maternity unit ward overnight & 2 weeks after, went in again)...

Best wishes to you! Relax ka lang po. Drink plenty of fluids, nakakatulong!

I heard that if you can't do smiling anymore, then the baby is coming
If you're screaming, then the baby is almost there

Yep it turned out to be contractions, 3 per 10 mins. Increased to 4 later.
Little fella weighed 9lb 2oz and had to pulled out using forceps
Hopefully I can collect them from the hospital tommorow as Chryss was very tired and needed to rest and have checks tonight.
Thanks to all the wellwishers and i`m sure Chryss`ll tell you all the gory details and upload some pics.
By the way, to all the fellas out there, I slipped the nurse a tenner to put an extra stitch in.....

    Congratulations
It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good to check up once in a while to make sure you haven't lost the things that money can't buy.

    Thanks everyone!!!

Just got back yesterday afternoon from the hospital..
needed to stay another night for a blood transfusion. I lost lots of blood, but i'm doing well now. As for our baby Isaac Yohan he is very healthy.
It was really a traumatic experience but it's all worth it. Did try my best and gave all my strength and powers... but still Isaac didn't manage to come out so at the last minute had a forcep delivery. He had small bruises in his face and his head wasn't in proper shape... glad now his head is back to normal and bruises are fading away.

I still feel weak and my stitches are starting to ache...

Just want to thank everyone for all your warm wishes, congratulations and supports

    chryss
