uk marraige advice needed please......................

Hi all ,

I currently have my filippina gf staying with me on a six month visitor visa.
(I am her sponsor)

We are thinking of marrying in the new year but we are a little unsure orf the best way tro go about it.

We have already obtained a certain amount of info from the H.O but not the actual 'procedure' on how to go about it.

It seems that the registry office way is fairly straight forward but no mention about a marraige licence (.....in any case we would prefer a church wedding!)


Would be grateful for any advice / info fot the time scale and requirements

This used to be regarded as a visa violation a few years back, and the 'fiancee' was sent back kicking and screaming back to the Phil to apply for the correct visa, as you have actually lied when applying for the visitor visa, as you already had an 'intention' to marry.

They do however look at each case these days, and as the HO has not given you permission to marry you need to apply for a certificate of approval from them. http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/app...ingcivilpartne
