    Smile Big Hello from Pompey!

Hi Everyone ...I'm Rose, been in the country for about 6 months now, living in Portsmouth, and have quite adjusted to things here ...I think my next big challenge is getting work ...from what I've been reading on the site about Filipinos having trouble finding jobs despite their qualifications, I might just be in hot water myself ...any advice on that would be much appreciated coz' I'm kinda lost of where to start ....I know now that a bachelor's degree from the Phils doesn't really count here, nor does different work experiences ...in the past four weeks I've been applying for jobs that I "think" I have the ability to do, but it seems that my applications are automatically binned because I don't have the UK experience and UK references ...at least that's what I think it is, coz I'll never really know as don't get any replies of rejection either ...it's getting frustrating and I'm getting desperate ...anyhow, it's nice to know that this forum exists ...the reality of things are "spot on" here

Welcome to the forum rose I'm just about to start looking for a job myself but since i have no uk job experience yet, i plan to take up some short courses in relation to the degree i finished in the PI. As for me, i have an accounting degree, so i'm thinking of taking up the latest accounting applications here or Sage to update myself and integrate my knowledge in PI to what they have here. From there, i'll see where it goes. We just have to keep our expectations down and take things as they come. As everyone said here, we have to start from scratch. We have to start somewhere and take on from there. Goodluck with everything

It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good to check up once in a while to make sure you haven't lost the things that money can't buy.
