    Thanks kimmi,

It was finance thread (HELP AND ADVICE)about bankrupcy and debt management
I have been chatting girlfriend for 2 years and we want to get engaged, but been caught out with recession now and accumulated big visa bills

If i get the debt managed it will save 1000s,but will result in defaults against my good credit record,if not i will be paying high interest over next few years until we marry

What I want to know without any risk to our future, whatsoever,is,if i go down the debt management road, will it effect any visa applications??

I would apprecate anyones help in this matter

I reckon that as long you have a couple of thousand quid as savings in the bank, and a regular income to support her without recourse to the public purse, then you have a good chance.

And marrying overthere is far cheaper than here in the UK, even including the flights.
Besides, you could save one lot of visa fee by marrying there (bypass fiancee visa), as you would only need a spouse visa and that would entitle the new wife to work immediately if she so wishes.

So my suggestion is to start saving.

As far as I am aware, the ECO will only check the bank statements ( the last six months worth) and not do a credit check on Visa/Mastercards.
If you were to repay your credit cards through a different account, it wouldn't show on your regular bank account, from which you supply the statements, and thus avoid akward questions....

And to add ,if you soon apply for visa, explain on your cover letter about it...also its only 2500 is the proven of savings ,the most important thing is the genuinity of the relationship,or what about marry her in PI,a bit easy,(( or less hassle a bit for )applying spouse visa rather than fiancee visa, just a tip ..dont worry too much!

welcome to the forum by the way !!

I really appreciate your replies, but , with respect , what I really need to know for definite, is , Does the ECO at any stage of any future visas , do credit checks , If so this would show me to have defaults on credit rating and show that i am unable to pay bank interest , this would surely have a bearing on my ability to support my fiance or wife and would set our plans back 6 years notwithstanding a failed visa applicatioI would be grateful for any help in this matter

NO THEY DO NOT DO CREDIT CHECKS nor CHECK HOW MUCH LOAN YOU HAVE...
THEY ARE JUST INTERESTED OF WHAT IS IN YOUR CURRENT/SAVINGS ACCOUNT (6 mos latest statements)

Provided you have retained a debit card, you can open a paypal account, through this, you can send money to anyone with a paypal account in the world.
    https://registration.paypal.com/paypalLogin.do
But it would take a few days for disbursement into the banks.

Also you can use www.xoom.com in combination with paypal. This is much quicker, 1/2 days.

xoom if very flexible and allows you to send the money directly into a specific bank account, or have it delivered in cash directly to the person you name.
2 proofs of ID will be required on cash deliveries.

I have been using xoom for a number of years and apart from 1 instance, when the site was under maintenance, never had any problems.
