    Nail Breakage....help!

This is funny what's happening to the filipinas. After Andres25 dandruff attack now my nail breakage!

For almost 2 months now i have a nail breakage. I'm applying the Sally Hansen Strong nails now (Nail Strengthener) but before this i have used the same brand (Hard as Wraps). Does anyone here had experienced the same?
I have to cut my nails very short just so if won't affect the whole lenght.....I always wear gloves which is just normal to protect our hands.

Any suggestions from among the members, what did you do? I am worried it might get worse....

    Thanks for the replies.....

You're referring to that colorless nail polish. Some men prefer to have the pinkish color effect on their nails so they use the (merthiolate) the disinfectant applied after the cleaning.

Do you wear a mascara tawi2?If so i can recommend the best brand

Thats the one itsme,a sort of pinkish tone especially around where the cuticles were,it actually looked quite fetching,I am sure the immigration officer at Heathrow was quite taken with them because he gave me several glances as I handed him my passport I would use mascara, but I have green eyes,I want something that reflects them, unfortunately somehow I think Hammerite isnt quite what I had in mind Its quite liberating being metrosexual

Yea you're right Tawi2 the merthiolate stays longer if it's applied after the cleaning and then the nail polish on top. It gives a very neat and baby looking effect because of the color. You had the pedicure as well? You must be vain?!

I like men who maintains short and clean nails all the time. No need for nail polish and merthiolate

Awwww mascara to match your green eyes???:I would suggest you use the black mascara to give your eyes the sexy look....

As to the brand well it depends on your budget....

i did not experience it but here's what i learned from what i read according to cindy, a nail specialist:

" Biting, traveling, moving and bitter cold are the four most common culprits of nail breakage or lifting. Next comes gardening, cleaning, and washing dishes. Without proper gloves for each, nail breakage and lifting can occur. Stress is also a huge culprit! Whether we realize we are doing it or not, stress causes us to put our nails in our mouth and pick and pull off our beautiful enhancements.

As for bitter cold - wearing protective gloves and using a good quality cuticle oil regularly (every night before bed time), will keep your nail enhancements pliable. Plus you receive the benefits of cuticle softening and nail enhancement beautification.

**Special hint: Skiers, snowboarders, snow mobilers and cold weather sports enthusiasts: Before venturing out to your favorite winter sport, grab a bar of Ivory soap, scrape your nails on the bar of soap, filling up the underside of your nails. Throw the bar of soap in your coat pocket, put on your gloves and go play! When you are finished, simply remove your gloves; wash your hands (the bar soap will rinse out from behind your nails) and relish in your memories of the day. This method is not a guarantee that you will not have any nail breakage, but does reduce the chances of such!"

    here's more from http://skincare.lovetoknow.com/What_...rnail_Problems

Clearly, what is going on with your fingernails at any given time can sometimes be indicative of problems occurring elsewhere in the body. Concerns about the kidneys, heart, liver and skin may all be raised as a result of fingernail problems. Other maladies to watch out for include vitamin and nutrient deficiencies, malnutrition and, in some cases, silver or arsenic poisoning.

While little can be done in terms of nail care to prevent problems occurring elsewhere in the body, it is always helpful to adopt a healthy regimen that will benefit your nails and your overall health:

    •Take a daily multivitamin
•Add a B-complex supplement to your regimen (many nail problems are related to vitamin B deficiencies)
•Up your protein intake (both nails and hair are made of protein)
•Indulge in fatty acids (good sources include nuts, vegetables, eggs, whole milk and flaxseed oil supplements)
Finally, if your nails are in poor condition but aren't related to any greater health problem, adopt a regimen that treats your nails well:

•Keep fingernails short to avoid unnecessary breakage and tears
•Apply vitamin E oil to the nail plate regularly to encourage moisture
•Wash hands with a moisturizing, antibacterial soap regularly
•Use a fragrance-free hand cream to eliminate the potential of allergic reactions

    Hi Sis,

I use to put garlic on my fingers when i was in the Philippines. But I found this nail care in Rimmel. "Rimmel Stronger" it is a bit pinkish but when u put it in as if a colorless nail polish and it is really works

U can get that also in Morisson
It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good to check up once in a while to make sure you haven't lost the things that money can't buy.

What happened Mrs Daddy when you applied garlic on your nails? How long did it take you until you've seen the results?

Thank you very much for the information estherboaz.

With regards to all the things you have mentioned i can see that i've been all into that. From using the proper gloves, applying hand and nail moisturizing cream not just on bedtime but everytime i wash my hands, nail enhancement beautification. I visit a nail specialist at least 2x a week then i just maintain it. I don't have the nail biting habit.

I don't think i am stressed out. I live a very comfortable life and my husband is looking after me.
I was just thinking maybe the water had caused it and the brand of the nail polish i'm using. I was told i have to consider the brand in which i am allergic to. I am observing my new nail enhancement will take effect on me.

This made me laugh . Yes no one told me that UK has an unpredictable weather. I had said those words to my husband especially now that it's spring and i'm expecting more sunshine but after awhile it's cloudy again. He will just answer me " Welcome to England"!!!

Sir Alan yea i'm afraid so, this is serious. Just think of a lady who has dead fingernails!!!!
If it's about dandruffs we can tie the hair or wear a wig to hide it while it is under medicationbut, if it's the nails.....wear gloves during summertime???
I still have my fingernails anyway. Just considering the precautionary measures.
