Hi Neil,
Your introductory post provides me with a unique threefold opportunity to - first of all, welcome you to the forum, secondly, extend my best wishes to you and your bride-to-be on your forthcoming wedding; and thirdly, answer your question as to how much Filipino currency you can [legally] take with you to the Philippines, based on what Bank of Scotland/Halifax told ME.
According to their Foreign Exchange staff, the maximum amount that can be brought into the country is 10,000 pesos. Don't ask me why, but apparently there are tight restrictions in place vis-a-vis the Phils monetary system, and so it would be advisable not to take any unnecessary risks.
Enjoy!![]()

It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good to check up once in a while to make sure you haven't lost the things that money can't buy.
It's Arthur again, Neil. Just noticed you'd had a few more responses in the few minutes it took me to compose and post my previous message. Now whilst I appreciate the well-intentioned replies of others here, I'd strongly urge you to 'err on the side of caution' and would reiterate the advice I've already given you as regards how much FILIPINO currency you are lawfully allowed on your person when you enter the Philippines. And, as someone else here has kindly pointed out you CAN use your bank card ... ONCE THERE ... to withdraw up to (I believe!) 20,000 pesos. But please, be very, very careful and don't even think about exceeding the maximum allowance permitted when travelling. There's always the chance, however slight, of your being "searched" at one or other of the airports en route. All the best, mate.
Congrats Neil(and your good lady)If your taking sterling mate dont take defaced notes, ripped notes, not scottish notes,I have taken up to 6 thousand pounds in cash in the past, never had any problems![]()
Hi neilgrace
I guess my question to you is, are you going to be in a city? or somewhere rural or remote?
I've always just taken a small amount of sterling & then relied on using ATM's with my debit card & had a mastercard as a back up.
10,000 pesos is the max I have been able to withdraw a day.
Just remember to tell your bank or credit card company you will be using it in the Philippines.
Thinking about this, if you're going to get married you probably know all this.
Isn't it £10,000 or $10,000 you can take, when you fill in the immigration slip?![]()
