Okay. Thanks everyone for your contributions. I was inspired to write this thread by my wife. She thought it would be a popular discussion. It proves to be so! I have not yet been to Pinas as I am not much of a traveller but intend to go at some stage. I would like to hear the reasons why I should go. Tawi2 I am amazed that you have been to Pinas 50 to 60 times. You are obviously a specialist on the land. I am interested to know why you have been there so many times if you prefer other countries. I also wonder how on earth you manage to go to so many countries. You must travel at least 2 to 3 times every year. Do you work with Philippine Airlines (lol)?

I would also like to know why Filipinas fall in love with British guys rather than Filipinos. I mean if you come to Britain because of love for British guys why dont you fall in love with Filipinos?

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

Thanks Tawi2. My wife wants to point out that those places are not like that anymore. She agrees that it used to be like Sodom and Gomorra but no more. She wonders when you last went.

By the way Filipinas, a further question, if you marry British guys because you love us more what would you prefer: to live in UK with him or for him to live in Pinas with you?

I last went 2 months ago John,I never went to Angeles though I know it hasnt changed one iota, its exactly the same,I have two old friends who manage bars there,Ermita?Well,it could never plummet the depths of depravity the way it did in 1990 I think Mayor Lim closed down most of the bars etc back in 1993?I flew into Manila stayed a night, then flew south,my tastes have changed a lot nowadays Your wife worked on a moshav?

If security for life (not talking financial) I feel secure here, never seen gun in security guards, police etc..etc.. If I watch TV patrol (news from PI), there is no single day that there is no crime, drug addicts everywhere

hi Mrs. JMajor, this is Mrs. Chingford <wink> i think all over the world, there's a crime, drug addicts, squatters, prostitutes, etc..they just dont publicise it so much that their country will have good reputation.. havent you read about the knife and gun culture here in UK, that u cant even walk or ride alone in the train at night? sa pinas pwede pa...btw, i feel MORE secure in Israel rather than pinas or UK.. Anyways, the safest place on earth is in the presence of God, especially in the center of His will..

Hi Tawi2, well done! subconsciously, you need to admit that you really love Philippines and the filipinas in whatever reasons.. why? because you keep coming back!!! Thank you for bringing pesos into the country, it helps us to be able to improve infrastracture and change the places you have mentioned. About Angeles, i think the reason why it hasnt change yet because the young British guys are polluting/corrupting us. Tell your friends to close their bars (seriously speaking). Btw, i am not working at moshav.

I would prefer pinas as its my "home" but my hubby prefers to settle here in uk as it is his home too and his livelihood is here.
But he's been to pinas atleast 6 times for the last 2 years and he loved it there
and he is even considering retiring there, in tagaytay, when we both get old,
but thats long way to go as were both just in our 30"s now. We may have different plans in the future, we'll never know.
As for me, wherever my hubby is, there will i be - may it be here in uk, in the philipines or some place else.
After all, i'm always up for new things and i enjoy exploring and discovering new places and the best part of it is going through the adventure with the man i love
    For me that is priceless

Hi sis.. Mrs. Chingford here.. what a profound words (hi 5). Yes. most foreign guys, not only british, who married a pinay and have been to pinas would really love to settle there when they retired.. And i agree with you that as a submissive wife, we should be wherever our husbands wants us to live.

See john, you just validated what your wife told you - that filipinas are the best and you are lucky to be married to one
I'm sure most men/husbands in this forum could vouch for that

Mrs Chingford,Angeles as a den of vice and iniquity began during the vietnam war,the americans used it for R&R along with pattaya in Thailand, its supply and demand, its not young english guys polluting the place,I can show you plenty of establishments in Pinas that cater solely for pinoys as most westerners dont visit the areas and are unaware of their existance As for closing the Angeles establishments, too many politicians and law enforcement officials in pinas are making too much money from them for that to happen, there were a few bar closures in Cebu 2 weeks ago for not paying bribes, the bars were open within 24 hours So I suppose someone somewhere had their palms crossed with silver

That's too violent to be just out of a "tampo"
Thats more likely an uncontrollable rage rather than a "tampo"

Mrs M,you would make a good female moderator, keeping us all on topic As for UK gun culture, philippines gun culture is much more deep rooted and far greater, look how many people are killed on New Years eve for example in indiscriminate gunfire,I was there one new years eve it sounded like downtown kabul so many rounds were popping off If this is a frank and open discussion rather than a "I love pinas eulogy" then both the good and the bad are brought into the light Cant walk or ride a train alone at night?Have you ever walked through Tondo or QC alone at night?Or downtown Cebu near Colon or Junquera? As a whole the UK is safer, you can be reasonably sure the police will arive and sort out any problems,or that CCTV evidence will be available,in Pinas you have to physically go to the station, file a case, etc, etc, etc

It was actually my fault, the fact I laughed after I was stabbed made the situation worse,I got a load of scratches on my neck and hands Yup,I always love it when guys tell me how sweet and demure ALL pinays are,I have known quite a few, women are women, just because someone is from pinas doesnt automatically make them a princess, just as an englishman isnt automatically a gentleman etc, etc, etc

Still love Philippines, my home country, but I will absolutley/definitely agree to you there, even some bank in PI cant afford to have CCTV, police keep telling them to install while here even the smallest shop they had

Correct Mrs M,pinas hasnt a gun culture?Hmmmnnn,I wonder why even McDonalds,Jollibee etc have armed guards?
And I just remembered something,I flew to Zamboanga in march,I booked into a hotel, went down to the port area to see how much it had changed,a guy stepped out of an alleyway in broad daylight and demanded my money.........I had been in the city maybe 2 1/2 hours at the most
Anyone who thinks pinas is a paradisical utopia needs to go spend a few months there, its a nice country for sure, but far removed from the garden of eden,a good yardstick measure is why does everyone want to get out, maybe thats a slight exaggeration, not everyone, but most, look at the upsurge in nursing degrees, why do you think all the kids I chatted to want to be nurses? They all said "To work abroad" if you have money in pinas your life is great,if your an average joe its not so good at all.

Phone snatching is endemic in pinas, whenever I jump in a jeepney I never wear a watch, ring, nor necklace,I am always aware of whats happening around me,you know about the teams,3 or 4 guys, who target jeepneys, pull out a pistol or two and rob everyone often without the driver even being aware.I know an english guy,Harry, his wife was thrown on the ground when he didnt hand over his wallet straight away,I have known guys have had a blade against their neck at ATM machines, its not the worst place in the world, but its certainly not the best either,I actually like it,but I am not blind nor oblivious to its faults and problems
