    Hello, let me introduce myself.......

    Hello everyone!

I've been a lurker for a while and thought it was about time I joined the site. So, I guess I should tell you all a little about myself......

I live about 10 miles south of Durham City.

I first became interested in the Philippines about 11 years ago when I met a Filipina while on a night out. After seeing each other for a while we moved in together. We lived together for approximately 5 years. Unfortunately the relationship didn't last. About 6 years ago we parted company. Until this day we are are still friends. She is now married and has moved back to the Philippines.

I tend to visit the Philippines on average about every 18 months, usually staying for 4 weeks, but sometimes up to 6 weeks. Unfortunately due to work commitments I can't stay for longer nor visit more frequently than what I do already.

Usually my visits to the Philippines have centred around Luzon. Although during my last trip lasting 6 weeks in February/March, I visted Cebu, Negros, Bohol and Panay and also went down to Davao.

It was during my trip to Davao that I met a girl who I have since been in regularly contact with via email, YM/web cam. We've been getting along very well and maybe, things could progress................

    Thanks,

    Dave

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

    Wow!

Thanks for all the nice welcome posts. Seems like a friendly bunch we have here!!

Yes, I do indeed love the Philippines. I can't really describe why, the Phippines just gets under the skin.

I'm sure I'll be asking various questions in the future, and hopefully I'll be able to contibute in a small way myself.

BTW Tawi2, meeting up in Davao would've been good, maybe next time!

    Ingat

    Hello New Shoes (Dave),
It’s a shame your first relationship with a Filipina didn’t work out, but at least you remained friends
And you seem destined to love a Filipina.
All the best to you both.
    Mick.

... thanks for that, Dave. Very interesting! It's good that you and your former partner have remained friends. I wish there were MORE people like the two of you. Five years is a long time for a couple to be together [whether living together or not] and I would guess it must have been hard for you BOTH when it came to 'the parting of the ways' as feelings cannot just be erased like a tap being turned off.

But, I'm really glad to read that each of you has successfully managed to move on ... life's too short to bear grudges, after all. And, in welcoming you to the forum, I'd like to express my kindest regards to you in your new relationship.

    Hi Dave,
welcome to the forum, I'm a bit of a fraud here now, not in a fil/brit relationship anymore and not likely to any more either.

However, I am in County Durham too, so not too far from you (thornley).

The folks here are really friendly and helpful, they can give you a lot of advice with visa stuff as well as giving advice on the quirks of the filipina nature...... its good to get their insight.

    Enjoy xx

Your not a fraud Kerry, some relationships work out, some dont, its all part of the game, next time your working on a ship it might actually be "The Love Boat" Do you remember that program?Everyones story always had a happy ending, they all seemed to get married at the end of the voyage, and each cruise only seemed to last less than a week
