to loved and beloved is the greatest joy on earth...
my understanding is if you want to apply passport for your son, you need to accomplish the report of birth form.
So, obviously as Joe didnt bother to register little Joe, meaning as your question how important it is ? so I guess its not that important to register it in Phil embassy, IMO
depends on whether your going to live in the phils, i don't think little joe will be going for long so he can use his British passport to visit.
i'll get around to getting him dual nationality one day
but yes its a good idea to register your bb asap, so you dont have to pay the late reg fee
I did report james and got him a Phil passport. As for me its good that he will be registered in the Phillipines not just in the UK. Hope that helps lisa

Tnx,to u Mrs.Daddy, esther and Mrs.J
i need to fill up a report of birth form too, because i want my boy Alex to be registered in Phils and get his passport - especially as we spend 4mons every year in cebu.
i wanna know if there are any requirements as to who should sign as the witness? does one need to be a doctor?
hoping Ann07 reads this post....
thanx.
no, the boy is only 4mons.
so i guess i'll pay £18 for registration and £36 for his passport...
but how to fill up that report of birth form?
check the Philippine Embassy's website for more info http://www.philemb.org.uk/

hi! am applying for passport of my daughter and registering the report of birth is imoportant coz it's one of there requirement's and am gutted that i haven't done it when she was less than a year old coz u have to pay extra £18 for late registration. "as we all knew balikbayan visit only allowing them to stay in the phil. for a year that if they are with you during arrival's coz if they travel alone they can only stay phil. for 21 days and it's cost alot of money everytime to extend their visit..so, it's very useful & sensible way to have a phil. passport". Therefore, report of birth is VERY IMPORTANT coz u can't apply for passport without registering first.
ah, ok. so if my son has a british passport but my wife (his mother!) has a filipino passport, does the boy count as filipino british?
and can he therefore stay 1year in PI without a visa if we all go through arrivals together?
i'm thinking it might just be safer to get him both passports and dual nationality anyway....
Yes your wife can apply a Filipino passport for your son.
If your son used his british passport on arrival in Phils together with his mum then he will automatically get stamp of 1yr stay free but to make sure bring his birth certificate and your Marriage Certificate incase the immigration officer ask for evidence.

Having dual nationatily, he can get all the benefits he could be entitled either in UK or Phils.
Hope this helps.

Can u report the birth at the town hall ?
For Filipino Citizen with foreign spouse:
Any Filipino citizen gave birth outside Phils must register the birth to the Phils EMb IF the parents wants their child to acquire Filipino passport and it's also for the Phils birth record.
So registering the birth at local registrar office is different topic.
Not an expert, I only try to help.
i took the pictures myself against a royal (?) blue curtain at home and got them printed passport-sized on a machine at Asda. cost about 50p for 6 photos.
i did the same thing for his UK passport and the pictures were accepted, no problem.
i have now printed off three report of birth forms, one passport application form, got three photocopies of my wife's passport, three copies of the boy's birth certificate and printed three photos.
tomorrow i will get some postal orders for £36 and £18, make them out to the philippine embassy, get some witnesses to sign the report of birth forms...and then send it to them!!
thanks to everyone for their fantastic help!!
