    Lightbulb ADOBO mo?

    I've been trying to cook different recipes of Adobo. So far this is yet the best recipe I have tried (see recipe below)... They said that there are no two adobos alike...

    PORK ADOBO
    1/2 kg Belly Pork or Pork Rashers
    1/2 cup vinegar
    1/4 cup soy sauce
    15-20 black peppercorns
    3 garlic cloves
    2 bay leaves
    2 tsps corn flour
    1 tsp sugar
    1 tbsp water

    1) Slice the pork into cubes. Put in the pot.
    2) Add the bay leaves, peppercorns, garlic, vinegar & soy sauce.
    3) Turn the burner on, simmer and cover for about 25mins or until the meat is tender.
    4) On a separate bowl, mix sugar, corn flour & water.
    5) Put the corn flour mixture in the pot and let is simmer for another 10mins or until cooked.
    6) Served hot with steamed rice

    I did actually have dog adobo once,but forgot to ask for the recipe

    Hmmmmm, yummy. Can i have some Manay? I used to cook Chicken Adobo with potato as one of hubby's favourite food.

    Aw Manay sorry for the late reply just woke up, hehhehe... Here's my recipe try it & hope you & hubby will like it (Tsamba lng yn )

    Ingredients:
    1 k. chicken, sliced to serving portions
    ½ cup vinegar
    ½ cup soy sauce
    ¼ tsp. pepper, coarsely ground
    4-5 pcs. Potato, cut into serving
    1 tsp sugar
    1 chicken cubes
    1 small bay leaf
    2 cloves garlic, crushed
    ½ each onion (sliced thinly)
    1 tsp corn flour
    1 pouch Mama Sita’s savory Sauce (Adobo)Mix
    3 tbsps. cooking oil


    Directions:

    1. In a casserole, combine the meat and the dissolved Mama Sita's Adobo
    (Savory Sauce) Mix. Marinate for 30 mins
    2. Fry the potato while marinating the chicken.
    3. Drain the chicken and set sauce aside
    4. Fry the chicken pieces to brown
    5. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high flame and sauté garlic, onion, fried
    chicken, chicken cubes & pepper
    6. Add corn flour mixture with the Adobo mix sauce , bring to a boil on the
    stove and lessen heat. Simmer for 25-30 minutes until chicken is cooked
    through and tender. Add water as necessary.
    7. Put the fried potato
    8. When the sauce starts to boil, add vinegar, soy sauce, bay leaf & sugar,
    lower the heat and simmer. Stir once in a while to prevent the sauce from
    sticking to the pan. Boil down remaining sauce somewhat until thickened.
    Remove from heat and serve up with rice.

    1 small can of pineapple(includding the syrup)

    2) Add the bay leaves, peppercorns, garlic, vinegar & soy sauce.
    3) Turn the burner on, simmer and cover for about 25mins or until the meat is tender.
    4) On a separate bowl, mix sugar, corn flour & water.
    5) Put the corn flour mixture in the pot and let is simmer for another 10mins or until cooked.
    6) Served hot with steamed rice

    Hello Aposhark

    I think she can get that Adobo Mix in a Filipino store, if you can find the store near you. Where in England do you live? Me & my husband are planning to go to one of the Filipino stores this coming weekend. I will check if i can find there, then maybe i can buy some for you and send it by post if you give me your address.

    You can cook that Adobo without this Mix anyway, use the corn flour & chicken cubes instead.

    i've got a different way of cooking adobo.

    1/2 kg Pork Ribs (chopped 2" peices) or chicken (on the bone)
    1 part vinegar to 2 parts soy sauce (to taste)
    freashly ground black pepper (I mean really freashly ground )
    3 garlic cloves
    2 bay leaves
    1 onion
    *ginger only with the chicken
    water
    2tbsp cooking oil

    Method:
    1) saute the onion, garlic and ginger
    2) add the pork ribs, chicken cook untill lightly brown
    3) add the soysauce and enough water to cover the meat
    4)add black pepper
    5)let it simmer untill tender
    6) add the vinegar and simmer for another 5 mins.

    Chicken Adobo
    3 teaspoons vegetable oil
    1 teaspoon ginger,grated
    3 gloves garlic,minced
    2 1/2-3 pounds chicken,cut up
    1/2 cup vinegar or distilled white vinegar
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    1/2 cup water
    2 bay leaves

    Heat the oil in a large pot and saute the garlic and ginger.Add the
    chicken pieces and lightly brown.Add the vinegar,salt,pepper,water
    and bay leaves and simmer,covered for 30 minutes,or until the chicken is tender.
    Remove the cover and continue to simmer until the liquid is reduced in half.

    Variations:
    for more spice add 1 whole jalapeno pepper to the liquid before simmering the chicken.
    for a sweet thick sauce,add 1/2 cup of canned coconut milk after reducing the adobo sauce,and simmer,uncovered for a few extra minutes.

    My version of chicken adobo.

    Hi manay,

    I do my adobo in the same way wether it is pork or chicken

    1kl pork/chicken
    1 onion chopped
    1 ginger finely chopped
    1/2 cup water
    1 cup soy sauce
    1/4-1/2 cup vinegar
    3 cloves garlic
    1 bay leaves
    ground pepper

    On a medium heat,put the ginger, onion, pork/chicken and 1/2 cup water to boil give a stir every now and then for 30 mins to make sure that the juice of the ginger sinks into the meat. Add the garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, pepper and bay leaves cover until the meat is tender. U can also add a pineapple sliced to give it flavour.
    It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good to check up once in a while to make sure you haven't lost the things that money can't buy.

    I'm glad you manage to find where to get the mix but still you can cook a delicious adobo without it. I used to cook 2 times a day and it's quite boring just to think what to cook every meal. So, i have to try different style of cooking, and i am so pleased my loving husband loves it even though its tasteless for me

    Why not adding hard-boiled quail eggs to your adobos. It sure makes a difference.
