Michael Jackson - The Greatest Entertainer, ever!!!

The passing of Michael Jackson has filled me with great sadness like so many whose lives he touched.

Much rumour, lack of understanding and negative targeting occurred throughout the last few years of his life. It is most unfortunate that so many rely on newspapers and magazines as their information sources. Anyone who has had experience of the popular media knows first hand that they are unreliable and only a very small portion bears any resemblance to the truth.

Many think that the old adage that 'there is no smoke without fire', holds true. We should be very wary of that belief. I remember someone with a legal background saying,"I could make Mother Teresa appear to be a child molester without telling a single lie".

Michael Jackson surely made many mistakes. Noone disputes that. Particularly, that someone with his particular background could indulge his childlike tendencies without massive criticism. I totally do not believe that Michael Jackson bore any intent to do anything remotely related to a sexual assault. Some who have no experience of how litigious American society is will say, "so why did he settle?". He settled on that case and others of varying types just as many celebs do. They have to get on with their lives and fight court cases damages their reputations, consumes time and financial resources, etc.

No other entertainer has touched the lives of so many people on a global level as Michael Jackson. Elvis and The Beatles achieved so much but don't come close to the global, cross cultural and multiple-genre impact of Michael Jackson.

People love Michael Jackson - he never had a spiteful bone in his body. that often caused people to ridicule him.

As I grew up, Michael Jackson featured heavily in my social scene, my personal aspirations and my feelings of acceptability. Only those who share similar experiences will be able to relate to this I suspect.

Anyway, for me and millions around the world, and contrary to what most of the media try to portray as fact, what will stand the test of time will be the fantastic music brought to our lives, the barriers he broke down and the wonderful charitable acts performed by the greatest entertainer the world has ever known.

His achievements far outweigh his shortcomings.

Michael Jackson - rest in perfect peace. You will be missed.

    Amen.

Sorry, didn't like his music at all - a long way from my tastes.

Give me Otis Redding any day!

One word on his music-I liked his music when I heard what he said. His voice was too much ooh aahh and in later years I had to read the lyrics. But he wrote interesting material. I am saddened by his fathers attitude. I just saw him on TV and he mumbled something about "Micheal stuff is coming out on Blue ray disc" sheesh. No emotions.

Here is a what Micheal thought about his own career

    No we must not.
Crappy pop music, plain and simple.....

Just because millions bought his music doesn't mean that everyone thought he was good.
Just because millions of people buy the "Sun" newspaper does not mean you can read anything interesting there.
It's all a matter of taste, as the farmer said when he kissed the cow.

I suspect that some things are true but what and to what extent, the world at large will never know. MJ's achievements speak for themselves and are further qualified by all of the most successful artists for a qualified peer review.

The only song I ever liked by him was "Ben" and it was all about a pet rat.....

But when he sang that he must have been 11 or 12 years old, long before his gonads, allegedly, dropped, if they ever did.......

I regard Isaac Hayes, James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Stevie Wonder and Marving Gaye as much better lyricists and musicians.

They are all 'niche' musicians though, whereas Jacko spread across many spectrums of music which is a measure of greatness in the music industry. His music also spanned nearly every language/country on the planet.

Iron Maiden write better lyrics, but they are 'niche' in the metal scene, and although have sold 10's Millions of records, come nowhere near what Jacko sold.

Iron Maiden eh, never got to see them though I always wanted to. Saw AC/DC at wembley last wknd and that was fantastic

Back to wacko and apparently last a few days ago there was one of those black music award thingies. Someone apparently said " the best thing about michael jackson is that hes black"
hmmm......makes me wonder when they last saw him!
you couldnt find someone trying harder to be white! not just his skin condition but the way his face was adpated by surgery.
Cant wait for a white music awards and for someone to shout " the best thing about xxxxxxxxxx is that they`re white"
dont think it`d be long before some do-gooder claims racism
