I know its expensive to have a dog here.I haven`t got one on my own eventough I like to have one but in our situation that we keep on travelling we couldn`t afford to kept one,you have to pay a fortune to put it in kennels.Although most of the times I see holly and harvey my step daughter`s border terrier so I am alright and its like I treated them as my own.So they`re like my pets but only in christmas I spend for them so thats goodIf I wanted a dog I want to have a Labrador one because they`re just adorable specially if I see them on telly the Andrex tissue ad to buy one that cost about 500 more or less and am not prepared to pay for that amount plus hubby said I have to take it for a walk everyday twice a day and I said NO NO NO!Am to idle for doin that.I like one but not to take one for a walk so that`s it I never could have one ever!oh!btw maria they used to send their dogs(step daugther) in parlor as well for grooming but when they found out that its expensive we would rather groom them by ourselves and we bought this grooming kit in argos I forgot how much was it I think it was less than 30 pound. And it ended up me who groom themI regretted I suggested the groom kit in the first placeIts a hard job specially if your dog not pleased about the noise of this razor

I have had the good fortune of owning dogs in the past, mainly Labrador Retrievers.
And although, sometime, I do miss the companionship, I would not have another pet again.

It is not because of the vast amounts of money involved in keeping pets, it is because of not having to go through the pain, upset and sadness of when the time comes for them to be put to sleep because of terminal sickness, or pass away of old age or accidents.
Some of my kids even now, years after the last dog sadly died, do give me, from time to time, framed prints of chocolate labradors as birthday presents, especially if they do resemble my favourite one.
My "Enya" was one in a billion, I would never be able to get another like her, and trying to do that, in my mind, would insult her memory.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change, the courage to change the things i can and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people i had to kill because they pissed me off.

True.........a pet's life span is shorter though, and the more attached you get the harder it is to let go.....
I guess loosing a pet is just as painful as loosing a loved one in a way, specially a dog pet, and the fact that they don't last as long as we want, is a sad thing.....

    Nice one Mr Joe!....
I felt sad when our rottweiler was gone. It was because she was with the family for many years. There were many happy memories of her. We brought her to a dog show one time. She was so happy everytime she is brought out in the open field to play. Everytime we go for a walk in the village and happen to meet a dog of her breed we ( the owners) introduce our pet dogs to one another. I remember a time when she was left alone at home and when we arrived and looked for her in every corner of the house and in the garden can't find her and she didn't answer at all. I finally found her under the shrubs and head flat on the ground but eyes looking at me as if she's sulking bec she was left behind. I said "i'm sorry" then i called her and had put the dog food and added fresh water on the food trays but she just snobs me. So what i did was to bring the food trays infront of her. We really missed her a lot when she was gone, something was missing at home. I even cried.Sometimes i felt not to own one again for when it will be gone it's hard to cope up with the changes in the family. We will always remember the happy days when they're still with us.

    Cheers

i have memories of me and my dog chasing rabbits when she was young, funny how she never caught one , maybe i was just not quick enough when she got so close, or was it because i'm a veggy she was happy in them days , like the time i was taking her for a walk and turned a corner, and a cat flew thru the air, she had managed to get it, don't think she hurt it, but the cat had scratched her nose, and her nose was bleeding a little bit, but she had a big smile on her face

i give my dog cod liver oil capsule and glucosamine tablet a day.

if you've got a morrisons near you, they have on offer pedigree joint care + snacks, 3 for the price of 2, will cost you £8, but saves you £4 and will help you dog for 3 wks if its old

Hi Joe, i know the maintenance here in the UK is not that expensive compared to that in the Phils. Yes vitamins , cod liver oil are given as well. I am contemplating if i will get one again.
Yeah so many happy memories. She was fond of playing the freesbie and chasing cats. Love to our pet dogs were established once they were brought to us either by gift or bought from the pet shops.
