i take it from your post that the person who is applying for the visa is not involved in the case, but the sponsor (English partner) is ??
if so, i don't think it will matter as the sponsor is not asked about any convictions when their spouse applies for a visa, as they are not the one applying for settlement, i dont recall reading anywhere what convictions if any a sponsor has
