that, as her sponsor, the fact that I was getting this allowance might have an adverse effect on her chances of obtaining a visa. So much so, I'd even considered omitting it altogether. In the event [acting on the advice given to me by fellow members of this very forum] I included it and, to my relief, the visa was granted at the end of February ... WITHOUT the need for either my wife or myself to be interviewed.
