Got my Provisional Licence but can't drive my husband's car :(

Yesterday i received my provisional driving licence.. me and my husband were both happy. He decided to put me in his car insurance so i will be able to drive his car with him. Last night we were talking about it and thinking possible places that i can drive without other cars coming in.

Then my husband just called me and told me that i'm not allowed to drive his car even i have my prov licence or even if i'll have my full licence in a year. Because his car is a sporty car

The insurance won't accept me Mind them, i'm a better driver than them i'm pretty sure

Know what...driving is good. It gives you some sort of freedom.

Perhaps you can get some sort of second hand really cost effective small car? Anyways...hope you get to drive the soonest -- safely!

If you really want a car you can get a nice second hand car which is in excellent condition and that depends on your budget

same here sis.what i did is i enrolled in a driving school so that i could drive.good thing the instructor is a family freind so it dont cost that much.am saving as well so that i could have my own small car.

yep! i really miss driving.. specially when i'm not doing anything here at home. it will be nice if i could just drive with my lil boy sometime while hubby's at work and kuya's at school.

Iin my experienced, I hold under 1 yr full driving licence and my husband upgrade his car to a new-ish Audi unfortunately, his insurance for almost 5 yrs(Direct Line) didn't want me to insure because its 'too nice for me to drive' so what my husband did was left the Direct Line paid £60+ becuase he was in contract and found a new insurance who can insure me to his car which is ASDA.

It's sad but nothing we can do.

My advice to you is to pass your theory test first before learning to drive, the certificate is valid up to 2 yrs, you'll have plenty time for your driving lessons.

This is what I Did! because the theory test fee, driving lessons fees, utility bills etc are too expensive and also less stress if you focus in one thing first if you do it step by step! Remember you still have kids, husband and house and work to look after when you study your driving.

I passed both theory and driving test first time as I took plenty time to study and concentrate one-by-one. I was ups downs situation but enjoyable and less stress!

Yeap, just keep reading and learning and reading and learning.. Only yourself can tell if you're confident to take your test or not.

For me is not really good idea to learn driving then stop then go back learn driving again, dont leave gap in between of your driving lessons, as you have chance to forget what you learned, it willl only cost you more money and time!

I did 2hrs per week starting late May 2008 then passed my driving test Middle of Sept 2008 so I did in total of 31 hrs of driving lessons, I also spread the cost of my driving so it doesnt hurt in my pocket

I bought cd from ebay, i borrowed books from friends, I watched free videos online (youtube), I read what people says in learning driving forum, etc etc, you know it's like applying a visa to UK. it's not easy but it's all worth it!

trouble is that putting your name on his insurance,they think the car is for you only and they charge a lot more to cover both of you?

get yourself a small secondhand car like a 1 litre and insure in your hubbys name and add your name too it!

btw i think its best you get some lessons first without your hubby there!

i took my wife to a quiet road to try my car for the first time as she can already drive...well lets put it like this,i think a few refresher lessons are needed!!!

Insurance companies ALWAYS find a way to charge you more. When I split with my ex, I had her taken off the insurance and my premiums went UP, as they allegedly give a discount for married coupkles which is then removed cos I was single!!
I'm the same driver, with the same car and shoudl have th same risk, but they still put my premiums UP.

my ex wife had hers in a bag in the footwell of the passengers seat she was driving at 60mph and tryed to reach over to answer the call lost control of the car went down an embankment rolled the car 8 times the roof was squased right down to the headrest only the fact that she was so short or her head would have been flattened my 8 yr old son was in the back the emergency services was amazed they walked away injury free GOD WAS SMILING ON THEM

I think that's expected, if she is driving in the philippines which is left hand drive while it's the opposite here in uk,
so she needs to re-adjust what she's been used to, not to mention getting on the right side of the road, lol
and also driving here should be quicker and faster as there's no traffic, lol,
manila is a traffic zone, so you get used to a more slow-pace driving there....
unlike here, you don't see any heavy traffic on main roads....well atleast from where i live, lol, not sure about the others......
