Wow! Congratulations Mrs. Daddy! (now new mummy)

Yes it is essential to take folic acid(VitB9 or Folate) to prevent birth defects...it also plays a large role in cell growth and development, as well as tissue formation. It is recommended to take a daily dose of folic acid starting at least one month prior to conception and during the first trimester of pregnancy. Consult your OB for further info.

    I'm so happy for you

As regards taking *folic acid ... it seems to be the norm for expectant mothers nowadays [I remember my daughter mentioning *it]. Guess your obstetrican and/or midwife will guide you on the dosage(s) recommended.

Meanwhile, take care, and enjoy the rest of your holiday with the forthcoming Mr Daddy.
    Thanks rthur and myrna
