    4 minutes injury time
    1 minute celebration
    30 seconds substitution

    goal scored 95:30
    injury time 5:30

    Seems just right to me

You don't get this farce in rugby, 4 minutes injury time is 4 minutes. It is only in the last few years football has become a farce with extra time. How come every substitution is 30 secs?

1 minute for a goal celebration, wll hang on.

5 Subs in the match = 2.5 mins
5 Goals in proper time = 5 mins
Injuries = Usually adds at least 1 min
1 Goal in extra time = Bonus 1 mins
1 Sub in extra time = Bonus 30 secs
= about 10 minutes ...ref can't do simple maths

I've never figured out why they give extra time for subs? Surely extra time should be for players cheating rolling on the floor time wasting, not for an official part of the game! The initial theory of extra time was just to compensate for time wasters.

i don't know why everyone is getting worked up about it so much,it is the same for both teams out there.if man city had scored a late, late winner then there would have been a lot of smiley icons on heresometimes it works in your teams favour some times not.i worry that if we go down the routse of extra officials, more cameras, precision time keping by an atomic clock etc etc it will end up like bloody american sports with more breaks and stoppages than action.the game is still thrilling and yes if man utd had lost to a late goal i would have been gutted but thats what the whole game is about hi-s and low-s.it's never going to be a game of exact science and mistakes have been made but i think that adds to the randomness of the game.there are many instances where the wrond decisions have been made by refs which have benefited all the teams we support on here-we have all won and lost some but i still think unless you want to alter the game we love with all i mentioned before then it will take something away from the game which has been there from the beginning-human error.we may not have won the world cup in 66 without it!

Because it happens in every match these days, and has only recently sneaked in to include extra time for all manner of things.

Take yesterdays 6th goal, from goal to kick-off was 45 secs, so the ref adds on 1 min? Why?

You need extra time for injuries, but that is all, goal scoring and subs have always been part of the game, with no need to add on time for over 100 years.

God forbid if a Prem game ever has 6 subs, and at 90 mins is 5-5 (possible), sticking to the present law that would have to be 13 extra minutes

What makes me reach for the sick bag is that it is yet another example of time added on being played at Old Trafford until United score the goal that secures them a draw or a win by one goal margin. Final whistle is then blown immediately afterwards - no time was added on for Owen's goal celebration unlike Bellamy's.

As an aside there's been a lot of talk about City's defence being crap - what about United ? - Ferdinand gave another calamitous display and the goalkeeper looks like he's come straight from a pub team.

The 4 minutes were put up before Bellamys goal and before the substitution. Since the referee isn't a mindreader he cant allow for things that are going to happen in the future, can he?

Says Mark Hughes. Sky Sports and MOTD say around 55 seconds. Believe who you want

Games sometimes do have 6 subs and 3 minutes injury time is added for it. 30 seconds per sub is standard fare, surely you know this?

I knew they would score in extra extra time time, City don't know how to defend, and should have taken a leaf out of man youuus book and time wasted ie roll over, fall over clutching head.

I've just read in the Times that non playing Gobby Gary Neville (Uniteds own Sicknote) ran down the touchline to goad the Man City supporters. He has a track record of this behaviour and as such should be again charged by the FA.

Ferguson as well, for making a double-clenched fist salute to the City fans. Can't have one rule for one and not for others
