Are you using the form dated 04/2009 as the guidance notes and form are very clear compared to others I have seen...The only mention of photocopies is where it says 'documents must be originals and copies of any type are not acceptable'.
We didnt even submit photocopies with our Settlement visa application. The thing was big enough as it was.

    FLR - formal documents

Hi - we are in the process of applying for FLR, however I dont wish to send my passport as I need it for stupid RYANAIR flights.
I note that the formal documents can aslo be :
evidence of ordinary residence for the last
three years: notice of income tax coding, driving licence, building society savings books /bank statements, National
Insurance or National Health Service registration issued by the Department for Work and Pensions or a local health authority.

I can send my driving licence, but this was renewed last year.
I tried ringing the number on the website, but couldnt get thru.

Maybe bank statements with my address on them would be enough?

any suggestions (other than dont fly RYANAIR!)

    THANKS

    Flr

how are they going to put the FLR vignette in your passport, if you dont send your passport

They don't anymore ...... you get an ID card instead !

But, if Little Fingers is Pinoy, then the passport has to be sent, and is only returned at the
    end of the process.
If Little Fingers is the British/Uk husband, u still have to submit your passport, but you can
request it back (before the end of the process). But I'd suggest u give them at least 2 weeks.

FYI... I requested my passport back, and got it within 5 days
(... and before u ask, NO, it did not speed up the process of getting the FLR for my wife)
No man is an island, but Barry is

sorry - I should have said littlefingers (me) is a UK man. My new wife is applying, and I have just got thru to the help advice and they confirm I have to include my passport. It is not optional.
It is useful to know that I can possibly request it back which will help with ryanair flights.
    thanks for the information.
