Actualy what your son mentioned I think he got it a little bit mixed up as nearly in the same time as typhoon Ketsana hit Luzon, Samoan islands were hit by the earthquake and resulting tsunami as well as Indonesia recently.
Looks like mother nature is spilling her anger over Asia now...
