    Alan & Hanna

I'm sure my co-forumers and the many friends of Alan on this site will wish to join me in thought and prayer for Hanna's family ... and countless others ... in Manila, who, sadly, lost their homes and valued possessions in the wake of the terrible havoc brought about by last weekend's ferocious tropical storms that struck the Capital

Yes all those in the affected are in my Thoughts, hoping soon they will be fine.

It cant be to bad at present as the Wife is speaking to her little Brother and spoke to a friend of her's last night. But the areas around them still have bad flooding.

I know many of my Wifes Friends are helping prepare food for those having problems doing so themselves and my Wife was grateful it was payday the other day so she could help them in a little way like many phills abroard are. But feeling rather helpless
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops

I really do feel sorry when I watch the balita (news) and see the devastation in the Manila area.

    I'll pray for them.

I hope Alan and Hannah can cope with this situation in their family.

Thanks you remembered They're good except there's another typhoon on the way, still cloudy and raining, disaster could happen again anytime. I just hope they'll get through all these typhoon. It's just sad to what had happened to Phils and other countries

    What about your in-laws?

Well the Wife Mum Lives in Italia so is fine, but like the Wife feeling helpless apart from sending over a little more cash not much they can do.

The Wifes Lolo had to move to one of the aunts house as he has gone from none to too many indoor swiming pools now But as he said seen it all before over the years and knows it will be ok in the long term

The latest typhoon seemed to move away but as you say no more rain thanks for a little while would be nice.

The rest all ok, but the kiddies of the family upset as macdoo's, jollibee and chow king are all in the flooded area of the town
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops

Arthur - what a wonderful thought from you! Hanna and I express our thanks and gratitude for this sentiment.

The latest is that Robert, Hanna's brother who owns the house, returned from a 2 year contract in Thailand earlier this year with a (fairly) healthy bank account and was thus able to buy, for the first time, a fridge, a TV, a 3 piece suite etc... in fact, all the things that they had only previously dreamed of.

Last Saturday, all those things were destroyed in the flood, as well as his new car, bought 'on the drip' (if you'll pardon the pun.)

All his hard work has now gone 'down the drain' as it were!

I only wish that could help him, his wife and 3 kids - but, if you read my threads, particularly around May/June 2008 - you will realise why I can't.

However, at least he and his family are still safe - the main thing! There is, of course, a massive 'rebuilding' effort taking place in Metro Manila at the moment and Hanna and I are keeping very close tabs on events.

Bless you again Arthur for your thoughts.

Anyone notice the global change this year? Hardly any Hurricanes getting near America this year, they are all on the opposite side of the globe. This is a normal cycle.

Sorry to hear about this alan.....It's hard loosing the stuff and investments you worked so hard for.......
But what's important is they're all safe and unharmed and have each other.....they can always replace the stuff lost, but not each other.....
Hope you and hanna and her family were all ok and you all take care there and be safe.....

Hi Prof Alan, Good to know Hannah's brother and family are all ok. Although material things can be replaced it has a great impact on us who had worked hard to accumulate those. I know it feels so bad seeing our stuffs washed away by floods. I wish everyone good health.
    Warm regards to Hannah.

    Take care
