    Newbie would like basic help

I feel absolutely over my head as a newbie, and the forums can be quite detailed.

I would like to ask some, maybe, VERY basic questions, though for me as a Newbie, VERY daunting. I would be grateful for any help.

I have met a Filipino girl, I will visit her next month. If we get along, I will return next year and of course we will marry, in the Philipines.

    1. I need a CNI... yes?
    2. I've been divorced before, is this a problem?
    3. What are the chances of bringing my (hopefully) future wife back with me to the uk after the wedding? I ask this because on the forums, I read that Spouse Visas can take 2 months or more. So is it normal to get married in the Philipines and have to come back to the uk, leaving the spouse in the Philipines? What if her Spouse Visa application is refused?
    4. How much savings, if any, am I best to have in the bank to prove I am finnancially stable for the Visa application?
    5. Is there any anything obvious that I am missing, or any other advice anyone has?

If any one could answer these questions, I would be very appretiative.

    Thank you!

    1)Yes
    2)No
3)Depends on your factors and your future wife's - eg. are u financially stable, solvent and can prove it over 6 consecutive months leading up to the application for a visa? Go to the VFS website and look at the checklist and application. This will give you the idea of what you're looking at ( http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/resources/.../1903073/vaf4a )
    4) 2 or 3k
    5) read the webpage I showed you, and the one below, and if u got any more questions let us know.

    On another note

    Welcome.

Hi Antony, welcome to the forum. With regard to Question 3: It depends on how long your prepared to stay in the Philippines and wait. Once your married it can take a while in some provinces before you can get hold of the NSO certified marriage certificate and you'll need this for the visa application.

If you take all of the other evidence you need for the application with you, it will just depend on how long it takes you to get the MC and how long it takes to submit and process the visa application. At present visa applications are being processed pretty quick compared to a few months ago when it was taking sometimes more than 3 months.

    Iain.

    Welcome Sir

Your Questions have been well answered and my one piece of advice is to calm down like all of us like you were in a hurry. Things seem to take so long, dont worry read the Websites mentioned. Dont forget petes site http://www.british-filipino.com/which details alot of the other things as well as the rules, regs and procedures.

The best thing you can do also as its a long and winding path your need like all of us to ask questions various things from say phill ring sizes to the procedure for exchanging cni in the british embassy. Join in with the website read threads and post comments and questions soon you will be a world expert on a country you probably a year ago knew little about. Even from some of the ramblings on here your learn more about how a Brit and Phill couple deal with the various evernts they typical face if you wish to move to the UK than anywhere else.

Im a little further bit up the path and the journey is well worth it but the best advice I can give you is stayed tuned here on the website, policies, rules and laws change in both the UK and phill can change very quickly as the wife and i found out over the years.

lastly where you from in the UK and where is your Mahal in Phill?
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops

There is little [if anything] I can add to what my friends and co-forumers have already mentioned, Antony ... except to join them in extending a hearty welcome to you.
