Hi GUYS!! & also useful info required

Hiya guys! I am Lee and new to the forum... Discovered this forum by accident and hope to meet new friends here....

Also wondering if i could get some info... I am planning to marry in Dec in Philippines...Looking forward to my big day of course!! However I want to make sure the info I have previously is correct so that i dont unnecessary cause a delay...i may NOT be too popular with the other half!

I have a few questions and would be grateful for any input. Thanks in advance.

I have obtained my CNI from registry office and am planning to the British embassy in Manila to obatin the "legal capacity to marry"...do my fiancee also apply wth me at the same time and bring her documnets. Is there a requirement for her to get a "CENOMAR" or is her birth cert & passport enough? I take it by going to Manila I can pick up the cert the same day? The reason is I have only been able to take 6days off work in Oct...

Thanks guys and hope to talk to guys soon

hi lee welcome to the forum. i took my wife to the embassy i think it was a requirement and yes she will have to produce her cenomar like you have to with cni. all the best ian they did ours as we waited took about an hour depends on how many are there.

    From the UK embassy website

CNI for same day processing (If your CNI was issued by your registrar in the UK or issued by other British Embassies abroad)

    · Present the original CNI (3 months validity only from date of issue)
    · Present your passports
    · If widowed, present original death certificate of the deceased spouse
    · If divorced/annulled, present the original divorce decree/annulment papers
    · Original CENOMAR for Philippine citizen fiancee (3 months validity only from date of issue)
    · If you want to make a correction on the name that was mis-spelled on the CNI that was issued abroad, present his/her passport/birth certificate
    · Pay the CNI fee (please refer to the attached Consular fees)

As long as you have all the document they require, I dont think your fiancee needs to be there also.

    Welcome here, Lee.

I need not elaborate on the information tabulated by Rusty ... save to provide you with the address of the Embassy's Consular Section in Manila - where you should exchange your 'Certificate of No Impediment' together with the other relevant supporting documents - and the hours it is open to the public:

    120 Upper McKinley Road,
    McKinley Hill,
    Taguig City 1634

    07.45hrs - 12-noon Monday to Friday

Please also note that, to the best of my knowledge, the present fee [payable in Philippine currency] to exchange your British CNI for THEIR 'Legal Capacity To Marry' is Php 5,166. (Daft, really, as their version is far less detailed than our own and, to my mind, this whole "transfer" business is nothing short of another [unnecessary] money-making racket! But such is life!)

Hi guys... Yes nearly there but guess hard work starts now for my fiancée.. Been told she can't try her dress on till day of wedding...this is for good luck i believe...
One for the ladies & the for the observant grooms on their big day, without trying on the dress beforehand is the fitting ideal or would it slightly compromised as it must be hard to judge without alteration... Just my guess as I have no experience with tailoring or wedding gowns... But sure she will look lovely!!!

I had to attend a pre-marriage seminar, but the guy there just said that he thought we didn't really need to go through the whole thing as were both mature and had both been married before. So we just gave him P200 and that was it, all over in 15 minutes. I have been told that in many places you can get away with it by paying some money, but in others they will make you go through with it. In some cases it can last a whole day and it's usually all conducted in the local lingo, which can make it a bit of an ordeal for a foriegner to go through.

    Iain.

Welcome to the forum lee77 and best wishes on your upcoming wedding.
Some members who arrived on spouse visa can answer on your queries, for sure they are so much willing to share some of their experiences. I arrived on a fiancee visa.
    Best of luck
