    Accomodation and child

As me and my wife get nearer to the Visa appoinment there seems to be another worry that concerns us.

I am renting a one bedroom flat in the Eastbourne area. TRhe landlady was very happy to give us a letter to say that my wife and son can live here. I ave seen other familys with children in a similar position.

Ben is nearly 3 years of age so i belive at this age it is acceptable for him to share a bedroom with us. Maybe im wrong and just worrying over everything.

If anyone can offer advice and if this wilkl be ok with the ECO.

    Ron

Hi Ron - try to take a look at this link ( UKBA ECG -Maintenance and accommodation ) it might give you some ideas as what the requirements are but I think you could be OK with your current flat.
But it will be better to wait for an opinion of fellow members as well.
    Good luck

    • a child aged 1-10 years counts as only half a person.

A child counts as half a person that's a cracker When he is 10 he is a full person!

Does any else live in this house? Do you have bathroom, cooking facilities. Take these into account. Do you pay for meals. Are you just renting one room?

The ECO will not do the calculation unless they know the whole house situation. What does the whole building consist of?

YEs it as 2 rooms . This is bedroom and living room. Hallway, Kitchen and bathroom, toilet. Only myself . My wife and child will oppupy the property.

Reading the link above Reads number of people permitted in a 2 room property is 3 persons. I suppose it could be that the child could use the second room as a sleeping area.

hi ron! we have the same circumstance; i'll be applying next week, same type of accommodation and we have a 3 year old too! but don't worry, i think we'll be ok. As long as the landlord gave you an approval on living there with your family. your house will be counted as 2-rooms (1 bed and 1 living room).

My sister in law applied for settlement visa last year with her 5 year old in tow, they're renting a 1 bed flat too, and they got their visa.

Thanks everyone as always very helpful.

Ok i did check with the CAB and they did say that even though there is one bedroom the living room can be classed as sleeping space. It is also not overcrowding. So for any one else worried ..........Dont.

    Again thanks everyone

    Ron
