many people on here including myself recommend using pnb as it's pretty fast, cheap, reliable, can remit online and you are dealing with a reputable bank.
cheaper-yes
try the PNB for remittance,as your going to london they hav a office there.
why dont you pop in?
i have learnt to do what my wife says!
i always used western union and they charge me £4.90
i have used Sunrise Remittance. There is a small charge for the transfer . My wife normally will goto the local bank in Davao with the reference number and ID and pickup on the same day.
Ron
your bf can send to any bank for you,try searching pnb europe.

Sorry to be boring but a Nationwide CASH CARD, is still the best exchange rate, almost inter-bank, with no charge by Nationwide.
In Phil CitiBank don't charge although BPI and MaetroBank do, 3.50 USD per withdrawal.
I think if one can find a Visa ATM then there will be no charge in Phil ether.
My wife's cousin has a CASH CARD. I just transfer on line the amount we want to send and within minutes he can draw the cash.
Sorry Queenbee, but here we go again!
I suggested a CASH CARD, not a Credit card. Drawing money on a credit card is not to be recommended and even a DEBIT CARD, on Nationwide, I believe incurs a charge for drawing cash outside Europe. I stand to be corrected on this if I am wrong.
I use xoom and Iremit to send money.
I also use both if there are some fishermen here who wants to send money to their family back to Pinas.
You can apply Iremit visa card online. Just visit their website.
i refer the honourable lady to a previous reply that is still applicable.

Here are some notes fer ya!
Western Union I use for emergency.
Xoom is an American company, so needs Paypal to process your cards. It does not accept some UK cards. Paypal can use credit cards and debit cards for your payment method. When you prcess Xoom, it takes you to Paypal site, where you get a final choice to pick the method of payment. It is possible to add lots of credit cards, but only 1 Maestro card. Xoom takes Mastercard, but does not have the added layer security of the UK. We use Mastercode Secure Code here. I suggest you check this out and register any cards you have.
http://www.mastercard.com/uk/persona...ode/index.html
The Americans credit card security is sadly lacking- they do not even ask for the 3 digit CCV code on the back of the card. So do not store credit card details within the Xoom site.
Xoom has a free fee (because of Ondoy), so use it as soon as possible.
PNB takes longer, perhaps a day or 2, varies, but the fee is always £5,and they are at the end of the phone if you need them.
Western Union, are expensive, quick but reliable.
It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum. And I'm all out of gum.
Garry2jessica,
Did I say a Nationwide Cash card is instant, the exchange rate is effectively inter-bank rate (say 74 pesos to the pound today) and its free ?
Can you expand on this please. She is asking about Xoom and Western Union, so I answer that particular question.
Is this the card you mean John?

The list is blank for Philippines. Does that mean a visa charge is applied?
Pakistan
Palau
Palestine
Panama
Papua
Paraguay
Peru
Philippines
Pitcairn Island
Poland - No fee charged
Portugal - No fee charged
Puerto Rico

I have three accounts with Nationwide in UK. One I use for transferring money to Phil.
When we want to transfer a sum, I go on-lone and transfer that amount from my main account to the Phil one.
We then call a cousin in Phil, he has a Nationwide CASH CARD, and he draws the amount from an ATM. When possible he choose a visa ATM (Citibank and I think HSBC) which makes no charge. Other banks using Cirrus charge 3.50 USD per withdrawal.
My account gets debited with the withdrawal at the inter bank rate at that time.
http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_...rd_account.htm. That seems to be the account. When I opened the account there was no limit to number of account one could have.
Ya sorry to be a pain in the ass, I just wanted make sure. I just want to see if I can save money too, cos those little charges add up when abroad regular taking out money with Cirrus, 1000 , 5000, or 10,000 it all adds up.
1% is good and well recommended.

Incidentally, for anyone else interested in the VISA ATMs, seems there are lots in PI. I got 10 in Angeles City. ATM VISA LOCATOR
