I think we may disagree again... As bluebirdjones has already said it isn't the UK government's responsibility to tell Philippines citizens about Philippines laws and relegations. If for example I applied for a visa at the Chinese Embassy in London I wouldn't expect them to advise me about UK immigration laws.

This issue with CFO stamps has been going on for years and will continue to go on until the Philippines government removes this requirement.

Yes, I'm afraid we DO disagree! Okay, it may not be be the UK government's RESPONSIBILITY. But, since ... as you say ... the CFO issue has been ongoing for years, then I'd be very, very surprised [indeed, astounded!] if the British (or any other) Overseas Embassy for that matter, was unaware of its existence - and the hassle it causes would-be emigrants. In which case, surely the least Officialdom can do in the circumstances, is explain this one additional requirement to unsuspecting applicants (of which, I have to say, I was one!) ... as a GOODWILL gesture if nothing else. I mean, what possible harm could it do? ... especially given the cost of Settlement-type visas in the first place.

As regards your comparison with the Chinese Embassy, I cannot comment ... other than to say I'd expect to be fully informed in every sense as to what would be required of me, in order to comply with British Immigration Rules.

So your answer is for the UK and other countries governments to spend time and money producing and maintaining leaflets to educate Philippines citizens about the laws of their own country? And then to get the blame if they forget to tell someone or give them incorrect information.

At the end of it if you are resident in a country it is your responsibility to understand any laws in that country that are relevant to you.

Why NOT? The UK Government [and no doubt, many others!] seemingly manage to turn a blind eye to millions being squandered on lots of non-justfiable, falsified and fraudulent expenses claims! Need I say more?

Yeah, that's all very well. But the complexities of *Immigration Laws are such, that the AVERAGE citizen is likely to be bamboozled until he/she is directly affected by them ... by which time it is often too late to *assimilate their full content. And how many ordinary folk are "legal eagles" capable of disentangling all the complicated rigmarole that exists within this sphere?
