Perhaps from early threads you see that Edilyn was candidate for queen at school. The child that won was the kid who got the most money

Is it me or is this silly in a country where people are poor, surely intelligence is more important.

that kind of contest Gary is what we called in the Phils. Popularity /Money Contest,it is one way for schools to gain money or raise fund, the candidates(students) will give envelopes to their family, relatives and friends and they can put any amount in it, unlike with any other contest wherein there's a question and answer portion or a talent portion..though am not sure if its only in Pinas..

i think its only in Phils this kind of beauty contest money contest etc. they should be ban i can't see any nice thing about it at all Phils is so obsess about beauty pageant
