Hello Tawi2! Thank you for asking and sharing your thoughts. So, do you speak Spanish? You seem adept on Philippines stuff. I will always go back to my home. I've lived in one or two places (countries) I could say home, but there is nothing like my (our) home - Philippines.
Rather six months in one and six months in the other. Why have one when you can have both.
The Wife loves Phill, but Loves much of her life in the UK.
The other intresting fact is how many newcommers to a country always say they will go home where ever home is and in the end, end up staying in the country they moved to for various reasons.
Also those who know they will go home have you children or planing to have them in the UK? From experience that seems to change plans for many.
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops
Hello again Pepe n Pilar! What you shared is another angle to look at. I was just wondering if you've read the article at yesterday's (Saturday) Daily Mail? I haven't read it yes, am still reading the Friday's issue. It is about John Suchet and I am quoting those words on print - 'a news reader reveals about his grief, guilt and crushing sense of failure after putting his Alzheimer's victim wife into care' ...
it seems I'm not the only one whose computer won't let me multi-quote. Joy!
I speak a tiny smidgeon of spanish Bless, not enough to converse sadly,I was based on Gib for a while and should have tried to learn but I was too lazy I am wondering if I ever met your husband Bless,ex-forces?Very well travelled, without delving too deeply works in a sort of intelligence gathering role at................The guy I met once told me his wife was an aspiring writer I only met him once, brief conversation, but filed the info away for later retrieval.
Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.
Hello Tawi2! Spanish is part of Phils. Curriculum for a time, that was long time ago. It was scrap. Students are not that keen. I like Spanish but am no good, just self taught. My husband is on the same line but near . I had many chances going to 'leaving dos' ... they all from different departments. Maybe? ...
Maybe Bless Loose lips sink ships no need to say anymore

Well not always that old.
Plenty of Asians and West Indians I have met say yeah I was only here for a college course or a few years of work. Then I would go back when I had saved enough, then we had kids then etc etc.
One West Indian man who came in 1946 I think to study and then go home is still here I used to chat to him at the Gym, so I think he was healthy enough to travel home
He mentioned the country he had known had changed so much as had his friends and family back "home" and had bulit up relationships with his family and friends here he didn't want to lose. His sons and daughters would not leave and he said he didn't want to miss his grand chilldren growing up..
People deciding where to retire in thirties years I belive are counting there chickens i belive.
30 years ago 1979 the Phillipines was very different to today as was the UK.
But of course you have to plan today for the future. But how much will your British pounds be worth in thirties years?
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops
yeah... I got loads of friends working in Congress too... you can take a 6-month leave? hmmm..
Hello somebody! I am afraid that is the reality. Good for those who had got both currencies. Or should I say good if you have options. Since we are in PHIL/UK forum, which obviously we are part PHIL/UK memebers, it is worth knowiing where are are heading. Of course, we can't always plan the future. Who knows, we might be dead tomorrow?
Cheltenham?

It is very sad to read a story like this, a thing to ponder about ...
