They are pretty quick now with the new system .... until they realise it is too efficient and so change it again

@reaandandrew i wish you all the best i read on here a spouse visa being done in 9 days! i miss her so much we have been crying when we talk its so painfully to find the one you love and then to be apart but we are drawing strength from here seeing all the sucess stories see we being strong and positive.
we discussing at the moment whether i should go to manila to travel with her or if she will do this alone i know she will miss her family so think it would be easier if i was there with her so we can travel together to start our new life.also on how she will adapt to life here, what are you going to do ?

yah thats true, we've read so many success stories, i think theres one even had her for 1 day.. thats really great.. but u know its kind of scary to know what will be the decision, but we just wanna be positive about this..

its really painful to be away with our love one but we just have to be patient just like everyone else in this forum.. whatever happen or decision we get we'll still end up with a big smile in our face as wherever this takes us we'll still be with our love one at the end. i myself cant wait to be with my husband so much and spend my life with him.

if luckily ill be granted a visa before christmas i may just travel alone as its very costly to travel at that time of the year but if its next year then he may come over and pick me up. that depends.

ill pray for the success of our application and hopefully we'll get it soon.

send my regards to your fiance..

Welcome and Goodluck on your application Jonathan and Annabel
It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good to check up once in a while to make sure you haven't lost the things that money can't buy.

Welcome in here Jonathan and Anabell
You (your fiancee) MUST obtain the CFO before the departure - otherwise she will be DENIED travel, it is one of the requierements (read - "obstructions" ) imposed by Philippines government on their citizens wishing to leave the country.
For more info about CFO try to use the "Search" facility in the upper right of the green stripe - I'm sure you will get loads and loads of info as it was widely discussed in here recently.
    Good luck

Welcome, Jonathan ... and Congratulations on your engagement. The way things seem to be going with the Embassy at present, there's every chance Annabel will have her fiancee visa well before Christmas.

    Good Luck!

    good luck

Hello Jonathan... Congratulations for finding a beautiful filipina who will soon be your bride. I can assure you that you did the right choice knowing that Filipinas are great wives generally but you can also find rejects if you are unlucky. My husband and I are just new here in Bury St. Edmunds, we only moved in this area last August. So me too is also looking for filipino friends whom I can spend some of my free times because it's difficult to be on your own knowing no one of your own race in your new place. It would be great if she will be here soon and yes, my husband and I will be very happy to meet both of you.
Her visa application will be processed within 3 months and hopefully she will get it within 2 months just like mine. The only advise that I can give you is not to book a ticket until she get her visa because you might loose your money. Also, tell her to attend the seminar in Manila because it is one of the requirements that the immigration officer will ask on her departure. I was one of the 3 Filipinas who were offloaded on the day of our flight to UK because we didnt have the certificate as proof that we attended that seminar. So we informed the people from that office that we didnt know about such thing that's why we didn't go for it. They said they will inform the Embassy about it and hopefully they did so it will not happen again to other applicants who will loose their money because of their incompetence. Because they should have included it in the requirements. Well, I hope everything will be okay and good luck.

    Elma

Am sorry to here about your troubles re:the flight

    BUT
It is not a requirement by the British Govt.... but the Philippines

.... so to give the impression that it was "wrong" of the British Embassy not to inform you is incorrect.

The British Embassy is fully aware of UK law .... not the strange, ambigious , changing nature
    of Filipino law.
So to suggest their "incompetence" is very, very WRONG on your part.

The CFO is purely a way to extract more cash from departing Filipinos, pure & simple.
I can understand a voluntary information service .... but this is merely a way to
    generate more cash

Welcome, Elma. And thanks for informing Jonathan about the CFO requirement. In my opinion also, the onus ought to be on VFS staff to forewarn all overseas-bound fiance(e)s/spouses of this prerequisite ... at the time their visa applications are lodged with the Embassies of the countries involved ... thereby sparing prospective travellers much unecessary embarrassment, frustration and additional expense.

I think we may disagree again... As bluebirdjones has already said it isn't the UK government's responsibility to tell Philippines citizens about Philippines laws and relegations. If for example I applied for a visa at the Chinese Embassy in London I wouldn't expect them to advise me about UK immigration laws.

This issue with CFO stamps has been going on for years and will continue to go on until the Philippines government removes this requirement.

Yes, I'm afraid we DO disagree! Okay, it may not be be the UK government's RESPONSIBILITY. But, since ... as you say ... the CFO issue has been ongoing for years, then I'd be very, very surprised [indeed, astounded!] if the British (or any other) Overseas Embassy for that matter, was unaware of its existence - and the hassle it causes would-be emigrants. In which case, surely the least Officialdom can do in the circumstances, is explain this one additional requirement to unsuspecting applicants (of which, I have to say, I was one!) ... as a GOODWILL gesture if nothing else. I mean, what possible harm could it do? ... especially given the cost of Settlement-type visas in the first place.

As regards your comparison with the Chinese Embassy, I cannot comment ... other than to say I'd expect to be fully informed in every sense as to what would be required of me, in order to comply with British Immigration Rules.

So your answer is for the UK and other countries governments to spend time and money producing and maintaining leaflets to educate Philippines citizens about the laws of their own country? And then to get the blame if they forget to tell someone or give them incorrect information.

At the end of it if you are resident in a country it is your responsibility to understand any laws in that country that are relevant to you.

Why NOT? The UK Government [and no doubt, many others!] seemingly manage to turn a blind eye to millions being squandered on lots of non-justfiable, falsified and fraudulent expenses claims! Need I say more?

Yeah, that's all very well. But the complexities of *Immigration Laws are such, that the AVERAGE citizen is likely to be bamboozled until he/she is directly affected by them ... by which time it is often too late to *assimilate their full content. And how many ordinary folk are "legal eagles" capable of disentangling all the complicated rigmarole that exists within this sphere?
