    Wink my job hunting..

well..well..well been busy few days.. its been 4hrs from now since my last interview today for the second job that i found. in my interview yesterday, it was good funny and again headache english..when i came there i need to fill up first a company form then waited tobe called for interview. theres 3person inside the room who will interviewed u well im the 4th person inside the room.. well.. to make the long story short, the job is not for me. coz it was a fundraising for the blind people which i really dont mind, to ask people to give some donations we went to a train station . so i really dont think that ill be doing that job, coz as much as possible i want to do a work you know real work like in any factory, any retail, not a fundraising like asking money for all poeple as much as you can..

and today my interview hm...again it was not for me, though i undergo to interview and fill up again a company form. i went this very early morning interview. hm... anyway just keep on looking and trying.......

well i post a picture here of mine today when i went to the interview but not in the office only in the house..hehe i also wear that yesterday interview.. hehe parang manager pero la parin trabaho....

FYI i dont stop looking for job, infact when i came home id just sent 5 cv through on line that i have seen in ree.co.uk website for retaill and i also manage to give cv again in same store that i already had..feeling ko kc bk tinatapon lang hehe kaya give ako ulit..

All you can do is keep trying, perserverance will surely pay-off. It's a good time to be looking as shops often require extra staff over the Christmas period. I'm sure an employer will see how much of an asset you could be to their business

    Good luck

To get Interviews is a good indicator, only those who look promising are normally invited for Interviews.
As others say even if you dont get the job its good experience and dont forget if possible to ask for feedback on why you were not sucessful or how you did.
I cant blame you not wanting to be a chugger its a hard enough job for a young Confident Brit let alone someone who has recently come to the UK.

Your photos show a smart, attractive bubbly smiling person who is if i was looking to employ a customer facing member of staff would be a real positive

    First impressions really do count.

Your experince as a singer in Japan is also a postive.

Dont forget to think of all the skills, experience and abilties you have. Employers dont just look for qualfications and job experience.

People in retail need to have the abilty to be good with people, be able to work on their own and as part of a team. Abilty to work under pressure, be a fast learner the list goes on.

Always good to have examples of where you can show you have demostrated skills you may need in the workplace.

Always good to check with the Job agencies sometimes you only get a short temp piece of work but it gives you experience. Some will help you with CV and how to sell your self.

Have you checked with the local charity shops. The Wife had a short stint in one, it gave her some basic retail experience and working with Brits. An employer will like the fact you are both gaining experiences and giving your time to a good cause.

The Wife has a friend from her hometown who works in Leeds in a carehome, just the mere fact you are a Filipina will probably give you one tick as like all over the UK they have a hard earned reputation for being some of the best care home workers

My Wife thought it was an impossible task to get a job in the UK but she managed and so will you maam

Keep us updated and all you have Women and Men looking for work we want to as a family help and encourage you all
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops

Same here friend, although I got another job that soon to start, I'm still hoping I can find the job that I will really enjoy. But I know it's not that easy in Britain.
There are some factories here but all seafood factories and they all seasonal because only few fishing boat during winter. You can work 6-10 months in a year but will not make you permanent. So if you are not picky, there's always job here. I am not picky but I don't want to work standing the rest of my life.
I grabbed the opportunity to study during my recovery days. I hope this will help me find better job someday.
Studying ECDL here, but really hard as it's fast tract and I feel the pressure.
Also studying in another training school in Edinburgh about Dreamweaver 8 Web Design, I love it and no pressure and soon I will have my Carer training.
Very interesting 3 courses, and hoping to inherit some intelligency about computer from Joeblogs, Somebody and the boss Keith.

Thanks Somebody! I started my ECDL course 5 weeks ago and it is hard. As a matter of fact, I failed my preliminary exam. The exam has 6 categories. Using application, Document creation, Formatting etc. But I got only 70% because the time runs out and I had no answer with the last two categories. The office said it might be the language barrier that's why I got failing grade because I was too slow. But my teacher said, I might just need practice because Office 2007 is different from what I've leaned. (1997,2003) But in my opinion, I tried to understand well the question before I put my answer, and I'm always lost in finding all the function tabs that I need to click. It takes ages for me to locate the exact location of the functions. It's hard because it's fastract and teacher will not teach you the whole functions. So I study hard the CD about ECDL.

I enrolled my Dreamweaver in a private Training school in Edinburgh. It is great because we have 3 teachers in the room and you can ask everything you want to know if you are stuck!. It's far but there's bus and train so go for it!

I applied as volunteer 6 weeks ago. They will provide and pay my caregiving course. It is interesting because they need to check my background. I got my ENHANCED Disclosure certificate yesterday and thanks God! I have no record in Pinas. It took 6 weeks before I got my certificate and next week, I may start my course.

I am determined to learn I have my Dreamweaver 8 in my laptop but I don't know how to use it. That's why I enrolled.

HI Penny with regards the running out of time, it can happen to us all sometimes but worth investigating if you can have a little extra time? Some exams allow those with dyslexia or reading difficulties to have some extra time. Worth investigating you never know.

Dreamweaver 8 a great application and plenty of info on line from users of all levels and many like to make websites (as you would expect )

    http://www.teacherclick.com/dreamweaver8/index.htm

Always worth having a google around years ago many companies and colleges course work appeared on google but most have wised up to that

Do you have office 2007 at home, does your courses qualify you to get a student version which is far cheaper? You can of course download a free trial
many people keep a spare pc or HD which they keep flattening so can load on the trial versions microsoft provide for there training at home

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/pr...741481033.aspx

Dont forget to use the help on office 2007 and online microsoft web help they spend millions making sure people understand how to use as best they can. As do many other sites, google or bing really is your best friend/s

simply type guide to office 2007 in to your search engine have a mug of your favourite drink and start reading and watching.

Thats how most people in offices have to learn and loads of material out there

Good luck with the Caregiving course

    Thank you very much Somebody.
I think I have no dyslexia as I can read very fast. But without understanding what I read. If I need to understand the test questions, it will take a bit slow for me. I got two 100% among the 6 categories. But because I had no answers with the last two, it made me failed my exam. I also use the help button even during our exams. I cheat myself.

I have all my CD as my husband provided. I have also my Tutorial CD for Dreamweaver 8, ECDL, and Adobe Photoshop. But sometimes, I'm stuck with my Dreamweaver tutorial CD. I need someone to ask that's why I prefered to enrol in a private training school. I love it and found out that I like my Dreamweaver course than ECDL.

I can't imagine that I can make 2 webpages now. I am now focusing with cascading and html. Thanks for the assistance of the school for having long patience with me.

I am looking forward for my caregiving course. My volunteering job will be 2 hours per week only.

Thank you for the helpful links! It will add my knowledge and will visit the site often.

I admire your determination and courage in hunting for a job. I arrived here last feb 2009, started my first job as a care assistant last June. Not my dream job but I gotta do it for now just to be able to send money back home. It took us a month waiting for my CRB. You got the right attitude and I hope you find a job very soon!

I did worry too! So I shared my problem with Mom and husband.
I got ILA Scotland cost £200 but course cost £320 and Mom paid the rest.
ILA funded £200. Thanks to Scotland Gov't.
Hubby gives me transportation and food allowance.
    Now, my brain is suffering.

It's a tough time to be looking for work, whilst you look very beautiful in your photos, I would highly recommend investing in a good smart trouser suit for office and retail based. Also, whilst Filipino/Filipinas tend to have an excellent command of the English language, I would recommend having a English friend look over your CV/Applications at some of the written grammar which might need a little tweaking.
I hope this advice is helpful, and I wish you all the look.
P.S If you want me to look over your CV, I'd be happy to help any of the members here.

Very true this week i have had to assit the Wife with a business plan she was asked to create for a promotion assement at her workplace. Her first drafts layout and use of English needed some editing and suggestions from a person who had experience in what the British workplace expects.
Sometimes the changes are very subtle but make a big difference.

Now im reworking her little sisters Resume as she looks for work experience while at uni. She was given a very tired template by her tutor which says nothing about the candidate and if used in the UK would go straight in the reject pile

There is plenty of free info on the Internet and the Wife found regarding interviews books in the Brillant range were very handy.

Do find recent books or articles on CV's and Interviews as their are changes and trends change over time regarding CV's Interviewing and recruiment in general.
Dont forget the cover letter as with Visas a good cover letter whether a genric CV and Cover letter (handy to have on file in case a job opening or promotion pops up out of the blue) or one written for a particular job can make all the difference.

Dont expect Hubbys to be experts on interviews and CV's they may not have needed to make one for years. Find those who have been active in the job market or employing others recently

Update your CV on a regular basis and before moving over and during the long wait for visa approval a good time when your both on the web why not start on your CV.
Dont forget if passing your CV do make sure what detail you leave on the sheet. I your Date of Birth really needed would your age not suffice? Especially if simply handing into a shop, where it maybe left under a counter for the manager?
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops
