    need visa?

    Hello there, just a bit worried about my ILR coz nearly 2 months since I submitted it to HO and until now I didn't recieve yet the result...

    Anyway,I have a plan to attend the wedding of my cousin in the USA. My question is Do I need to get a visa? any idea pls. tnx!

    I've just come across your post ... and whilst I'm no authority on ILR [being too early for my own wife to apply yet!] I share your concern. Two months does seem an *inordinate length of time to wait for confirmation of (what I believe to be of your "RIGHT" as a married couple who've lived here together for at least 2 years ... although *no doubt there are some who would disagree with me!).

    Equally, I can understand your anxiety in needing to know the outcome asap, in the light of (hopefully) fulfilling your plans to attend your cousin's wedding in the US.

    Doubtless, a visa WOULD be required. But there again, I could be wrong. And it's most likely someone else here will soon be able to advise you properly on that score ... although an alternative would be for you to contact the Home Office yourselves ...

    Yes you will need a visa. A couple a years ago now when my wife had ILR she applied for a US tourist visa and it was actually fairly easy to get. Though it did require a few hours at the consulate (in our case the one in London) and it turned up by by courier a few days later. It's not free though - I see now it costs USD131

    Not to worry, You can have it soon. I got mine in 3 months. Yes you need to apply visa.
