    need advice

    Hi All

    Im new here

I am hoping for some insight into difficulties Filipino nurses face when they come to the UK to work and study. I guess things like language accents etc etc.

The reason Im asking is because Im applying for a job at well respected university, here in the UK to manage and deliver the degree pathway for Filipino nurse/students who are on their Overseas Nurses Programme and I have to complete a 10 minute presentation on what difficulties they face when coming to the UK.

    Any help gratefully received

    Thanks
    Nick

Yes, the language accent will be the first as it is confusing.
When I firstly arrived here, I was shocked with their accent.
I joined my husband in his truck and i used to listen with what they're talking.
When we had a stop at Birmingham, they have their own accent there, when we were at Glasgow, I can't hardly understand, In Edinbugh, Newcastle, it's sounds different accent again. And many more accents.

But you can surely get used to it and carried away with their accent.

Secondly the weather. Their summer is cold, their winter is freezing cold. They have different types of winds. Gales, high winds, gusty winds and more winds. some types of snow and ice. white snow, black ice, hills stones, frost.

I'm still adjusting with the weather.

Aside from language, i think cultural differences is one of the difficulties filipino nurses face. New nurses may find assimilating and adjusting into their new environment difficult. Cultural differences may be so severe that they find themselves terribly homesick.
