    Blacklisted

I overstayed on my visa in the Philippines by 11 months. I have been in contact with Bureau of Immigration and they tell me that I am blacklisted and I have to get a lawyer to put together an application to the Commisioner of the Bureau before I can have it removed. Has anyone known of anybody doing this and how much it all costs? Also does anyone know any good lawyers in Philippines?

Well ... ... I can bid you welcome to the forum, BUT ... cannot conceivably suggest any viable alternatives to hiring a [reputable] lawyer.

    Good Luck!

Cant help you with a lawyer But if its an emergency its not difficult to get into Pinas back-door without showing a passport,I have done it a few times, bit inconvenient though, better off sorting the problems legally and flying direct, good luck.

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

    TELL ME MORE!!!
Maybe getting in through the back door no problem but when it comes to re-newing visa after 21days questions would be asked.

You mean by back door as in boat to Davao or General Santos from Indonesia.

Back door as in small boat from Tawau or semporna across to Sitangkai, then up through sulu and jolo to Zamboanga, you can exit the same way.If you were desperate to get into pinas and there was no other solution its not so difficult to make connections and arrange a ride, just hang around some of the pinoys in semporna, lots of them are in malaysia illegally having been smuggled over to work in the logging camps on Borneo.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change, the courage to change the things i can and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people i had to kill because they pissed me off.

I met an Aussie out there who had overstayed 6 years, he wasn't worried as he was getting on a bit in years and planned on going nowhere else. He said if immigration ever caught up with him he'd just say he'd lost his passport, or pay the officer a backhander. Not really an option if you need to leave and go back.

Tawi's idea sounds like an adventure, not sure how safe it is in sulu and jolo though.

I know a guy who overstayed for years but he is a businessman and quite a large employer over there and it was a long time back, he just used to pay the fees, the actual overstay fees were not that high if I remember correctly, I think it's a daily rate of some kind.

I take it you did not pay these fees the last time you exited the country? Or were you caught and deported?

I know a two lads that are good lawyers that have helped us a lot, it was a couple of year back and in relation to immigration issues for my partner, I will drop them an email and ask if can pass you their contact details.

no i wasnt caught as such. I was in business with my then fiancees father. To cut a long story short he ripped me off and wouldn't give money back then disappeared. I had to contact embassy to fly home but not after i had spent a few months travelling round first. Very stupid i know but i had sold everything i had (house, car) to go there and be with this girl, so i figured whilst i was in PH i might aswell stay and enjoy myself for a bit. Didnt realise it would cause this much trouble. Think i'll go Indonesia next. I learn't my lesson about Philippines.

Please be careful with the people whom you are dealing with. Most of the government agency employees especially they knew that you are a foreigner are just freightening you to make money out of you. And, look for a reputable lawyer in case you needed one.
    Good luck.

I overstayed once for 3 years simply because I had no cash for visas...Cost me 5,000PHP to fix without being blacklisted...
These days however I would have no idea whom to pay..
    I wish you luck BTW.

I thought about changing my name by deed poll. Get a new passport and number but i wonder if this is will work with digitally chipped passport now. I wonder does that chip keep other information on it like your old name and passport number.
I am also wondering if u get blacklisted in one country does that mean you can't visit others like Indonesia and Vietnam. I hate all this.
I want to go back because I want to teach English. Lots of jobs there for native English teachers.

Maybe I should change my name by deed poll and get a new passport. I know that worked in the past but not too sure with these new digitally chipped passports.

jw23 don't quite understand why you would overstay your visa, seems a bit stupid when it is so easy to get extensions. And if you did the same in Indonesia, you'd have the same problem. And if Filipino did it in the UK, well the probably wouldn't see the UK again!
As for corruption, being conned etc. Well if you don't know the language, don't know the culture and walk in put your money down, its very easy to get duped. You'd probably find the same problem in any of the South East Asian countries... sorry if its a bit harsh, just the way i see it.

I received a reply from my friend but it's in tagalog.
I will translate later. Or can anybody here help me translate please.

    Hello Penny,

Bakit kasi nag overstay? Napakasimply naman mag renew ng visa sa immigration. Well it depends kung ano ang plano nya. Kung gusto nya pa mag stay sa pinas mag renew talaga sya. But kung gusto nya ng umuwi sa UK mag pa deport na lang sya.

If ever gusto nya pang mag stay ng pinas punta lang sya ng immigration then pay the penalty because still depends to immigration if they can still give him/her an extension even he will use an agency they cannot do anything about it. peperahan lang sya ng agency...I have a frien their that processing visa extension in immigration but i am not intouch with her anymore. Pero kung gusto mo talaga i refer ko sya sa agency i give you a name and address of agency but im sure instead of payment the right amount he/she will pay 2X or 3x alam mo naman process saten specially british yan.

My friend owned a travel agency before but she's living in New Zealand.

I couldnt pay the crappy little 1000php a week because i had absolutely nothing. I mean 0.000 php in my pocket. I didnt panic because i thought my wonderful sister would help me out and lend me the money to pay my fine b4 i left but as luck would have it she wouldnt. As to why she wouldnt i'm not going into it. Thats why i had to contact Uk Embassy when i was out there and thats why i in the **** now. Just to clear that up.

    Hi Penny
Why did he overstay as it is very simple to renew at Immigration? It depends on his plan, if he still wants to stay, then he really needs to renew, but if he wants to go home, then let him wait to be deported.

If he wants to stay, visit immigration office and they will let him pay penalties, but still depends with immigration if they will give him extension. Travel agency has nothing to do with it, they will just after his money. I have a friend at immigration office but I'm no longer in touch with her anymore. But if you really want, I can give you her address and agency but it cost 2-3 times amount of the right payment.

Sorry but as what I have said, there's sometimes no impossible with our system if you have the money, but I will not let myself to get involve and tolerate anybody to do such.
