My British partner and I plan to register as civil partners at the British embassy in Manila soon.
I know I need a CENOMAR but does he need to submit his own Certificate of No Impediment issued by his local registrar when he submits our notice of registration of civil partnership in Manila?

i think its best he contacts his local marriage register,its more than likely he does?

I am assuming you haven't already legally formed a civil partnership in a country (not the Philippines) that recogises same-sex marriages/partnerships. You can't register as civil partners at the British embassy in Manila as such. What you can do is apply for a visa as a proposed civil partner. Assuming this visa is granted you can enter the UK and within 6 months you must have a civil partnership ceremony and then applied for another visa.Originally Posted by coxsure

CIVIL PARTNERSHIPS
Background
Civil Partnership registration allows same sex couples to have their relationship legally recognised under UK law. By registering their relationship it gives them the same rights as married couple in areas like tax, social security, inheritance and workplace benefits.
The Civil Partnership Act 2004 makes provision for two people to be registered as civil partners at the British Embassy Manila in the presence of the Consul. Registrations can be performed provided the conditions are met.
Procedure
A Notice of Registration of Civil Partnership may be accepted after both parties have been resident in the Philippines for seven (7) clear days.
The British partner must give written notice of the intended registration to the Consul on a Notice of Civil Partnership form also electing which part of the United Kingdom he/she wishes their partnership to be recognised. He/She must have some connection to this area. This notice will be displayed on the notice board for 14 days. The registration may take place on the 15th day after the notice has been displayed. A civil partnership must take place within three (3) months of the date giving notice. The couple must appear at the British Embassy Manila with two (2) witnesses who will then be required to sign on the registration document.
Where two (2) British nationals wish to register their partnership, there is no need for a Certificate of No Impediment notice, as the notice of civil partnership should be completed for each party. Where a British national wishes to register their partnership with a foreign national at the Embassy, the foreign national needs to satisfy the Consul that he/she is free to enter into the partnership. This may be in the form of a Certificate of No Impediment or a letter confirming their status as being single. Either document can be issued by the local authorities in the country they are resident (provided they have been resident the country for longer than 21 days) or from the local diplomatic or consular representative of their country of nationality. If the foreign partner cannot provide evidence that they are free to enter into the partnership, no registration can take place.
If one or both parties have previously been married, a death certificate of the former spouse or a decree absolute or nullity decree relating to the marriage should be produced. If the person has previously been in a Civil Partnership, a death certificate or court decree must be produced.
** A Civil Partnership registration MUST NOT be celebrated between six o’clock in the evening and eight o’clock in the morning. **

... Otherwise more or less the same guidelines to be followed as in heterosexual relationships, then? I'VE often wondered ... for the sake of curiosity!
