I managed to pick up one or two very basic words of tagalog then when i met my wifes family couldnt understand it at all (found out they were speaking wara wara)
got my own back on the next visit (not sure if this is spelt correctly ) learned mahal, hinihgugma ko ikaw, and pwede ako nimo pakasalan? as i say not sure of the spelling as i learnt phonetically rather than seeing it written ...she almost fell off her chair
