Michel was once asked by a filipina , when we were at Frankfurt airport, if whats the first word he learned from Tagalog, (a Philippine national language)?

    he said: SAN MIGUEL !

ALternatively folks whats the first words you spoke to a filipino - and did they understand any of it.

Amazingly mine was WAAAAAAAASSSSUUUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPP, like on the Bud ads, to girl at NAIA who was trying to get a taxi i never needed - the reply I received was YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP-You want taxi now ? lol

I managed to pick up one or two very basic words of tagalog then when i met my wifes family couldnt understand it at all (found out they were speaking wara wara)
got my own back on the next visit (not sure if this is spelt correctly ) learned mahal, hinihgugma ko ikaw, and pwede ako nimo pakasalan? as i say not sure of the spelling as i learnt phonetically rather than seeing it written ...she almost fell off her chair did the trick though, married 4 months later

here was where my husband laughed soo much:

The jeepney driver asked all passengers: May bababa ba..?
One passenger answered : May bababa !
When the passenger went out the driver asked again: Nakababa na ba?
    All passengers chorused: Nakababa na....
husband asked me: are all they goats or what? -> baaahh, baahh, baahhh <-
