Home is where the heart is,I used to get homesick when I was a kid, sick of home that isListen to this song by a Fil-am,you've probably heard it before, great driving song to singalong to when your on your own,but its his memories of childhood back in Pinas

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.
Me too, great song for driving when your alone at night, atmospheric, reminiscent of happier times

jonathan,
i also told my fiance i won't get homesick... but believe me, when i am alone in the house and i turn on the tv and can't find my fave shows... then can't call hte friends i usually hang out with... can't drive around... no malls in sight... the deafening silence... "fake" sunshine (since it is not getting any hotter even when the sun is up) arrrgggg.... homesickness sets in...
i suggest that you keep her busy... let her do the cleaning that she wants.. show her where the nearby shops are..the nearest church... let her cook.. and call her from time to time when you are away at work... it helps... better if your mom or sis or whoever, can take her around when you can't...
florge,
thanks for the advice i am hoping she will make some filipina friends locally, we live in bury st edmunds i have noticed a few filipina walking around and a friend of mine is married to a filipina so will be introducing them ....i hoping to get The filipino channel to ... the biggest thing as i see it is i dont really have much of a family and those i do are a long way away so it will need to be friend based !

jonathan

You can get Filipino shows free online. Plenty of stuff on Youtube, etc, as well.

My general comment not pointed anyone here.....SOME filipinas dreaming or really eager to find british or foreign husband, especially when they have nothing (financially) in the philippines, doing all the effort to win and ask the foreign man to marry her.....
After the sun, here they are, they bored (like me) I dream to come over but now struggling to weather, struggling to meet filipinas, struggling to go to salon because its expensive, shy to ask to my bf as I am only visit visa ,dont want a burden on his shoulder as far as fiancially is concerned,
We can moan..its free

I would make this thread a sticky. I'll certainly be showing it to my girl before applying for any visas. I think Septembers right, that a lot of girls think its a better life here, but the reality is a lot different once you arrive here. And yes, it's damn cold
be happy on what you have and be content about it....enjoy the life you have now and dont be miserable... like the weather ...........enjoy u.k

Very true the Wife and her mates went to a New Phill UK group Christmas Party where just about every phill in the local area and a few who had travel from further a field came.
Did most of them chat to people on other tables or make contacts/friends. Nope they stayed in their own small groups on the whole.
Although the Wife and her friends did chat to two ladies who sat on our table and had a laugh.
Very easy for people from any background to mope and be depressed, sometimes it does mean taking a few risks. Maybe people will be rude or bore/show off or what have you but then again they maybe great company.
Strangly at the xmas party many of the Brit blokes of various ages and backgrounds chatted to one another more than the Phills
Already bumped into a few of them out and about. Some were friendly still others were not, no skin off my nose.
Probably the reason we chatted was because there was no pressure for us to do, while many pinays in the UK feel the pressure to make friends
Said it before try to make friends with people from all backgrounds (many pinays came to the party with friends who were none phill) from what I noticed many of these seemed to know more pinays at the party, possibly as less pressure to befriend people
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops
