    Places to Live Around London

I just want to ask people here who are living around London and traveling to work in the London city centre. Where is the best place to live outside London? With easy access to Soho? Is south better or East? Where are many Filipinos living around London?

I live about 500 miles from Central London. And that's near enough for ME! But my curiosity is aroused ... WHY Soho ... if you don't mind me asking?

Earls Court,Kensington,Hendon and theres a street in Plaistow with a predominantly Pinoy resident population.Decent part of London?Lived in east and west, got a brother in south London but it has to be west for quality of life, somewhere like Kingston or Richmond Why Soho

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

The company office is located in Soho, Shaftesbury avenue. But according to some people, living in London is very expensive. So the option is work London and live outside.

London IS expensive,if your looking for cheap satellite towns I would be looking at somewhere like Milton Keynes, slough,Luton or somewhere similar?Better add London also has its not so good areas, maybe look for a cheap place in one of the less salubrious parts?

Get yourself a pinoy houseshare?I know several houses in decent areas like Hendon rented entirely by pinoys, they pay the whole house rent, normally £1200-£1400 a month and sublet the rooms to other pinoys, been to BBQ's in such places a few times.Place an advert in one of the Pinoy Newspapers,or stick an advert up in the windows of the Pinoy supermarkets in Earls Court.

Sounds good. Initially share a house, and then search to rent a whole house and sublet the other room/s. So let me know if some pinoys are still letting a room, might go ahead in Soho if still can save a few ££ in the bank. I will try to look for that pinoy papers too.

Heres a list of the Pinoy newspapers,if you walk into Manila Market or Farochilens both in Earls Court they have them,as you come out of Earls court station across from Hogarth Place turn right and walk a few yards down,in a doorway theres a large noticeboard with situations vacant and rooms/houses to let adverts, several pinay houses were advertising on there last time I looked.

Theres another Pinoy newspaper,I cant remember the name of it,its the one with the classifieds in the back, always used to have adverts posted by UK guys looking for UK based Pinays or UK based pinays selling houses back in Pinas,I think that would be your best bet if anyone can remember the name?

Other places just outside London are around Bromley or Chislehurst etc and also places that are on the line to Brighton as although Brighton is on the coast, it only takes an hour by train.

Lots of peoploe commuting down to London from our town - Bicester - as it is on the main track from London Marylebone to Birmingham and reasonably short journey about 1hr to 1 1/2 hours (depends on the train type).
Or you can try to take a look aroun the towns like High Wycombe or Princess Risborough etc. on the same line - they are even closer to London...
Not sure about Filipino population there though...

Soho is pretty easy to get to from any of the major railway stations. So no need to live slap back in London unless you wish to.

What sort of commute would you like? What hours are you likely ot have at your Office?
From the outskirts of London its only 20 or so mintues in to London by train then another 20-30 mintues or so to Soho for most.

If you want to save some money and can manage it most of central London is quite easy to walk round if you have the time and inclination.

Plenty of places i see offered for rent either short or long term all over London so you should have quite abit of choice dont limit your self to pinoy places to rent as sadly from what i hear from many people from various non british backgrounds people dont always look after there own
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops

I really don't know how long the journey is to Soho from other parts of London. But I am willing to travel, safely, to at least 45 min total to work.

As for other non British who are not looking after their own, sometimes it's goes down to, " I am better" attitude. There is always one who feels this way and love to show off. And started doing chismis. I witness this already in where I live. I just smile and just ignore everything.

Well good news is many of the tube lines intersect soho or very nearby and plenty of Bus routes.

Worth using google maps which will show all the tube lines and major stations.

Alaso worth looking at the TFL website as many of the major tube lines have on the outskirts of them plenty of affordable areas to rent in.

But from experience well worth ensuring you have several routes into work if possible and of course out of. Tube and Overground lines/stations often mean they are closed when required yet other routes if you know of them are totally unaffected..
