Hi Guys,

Another thread prompted me to ask this question (and yes I know this has been asked many time before, but it is perhaps the only question where the answer could change).

How much money is required to show as savings for a visa application?

So far, I have come to believe that £2,000 savings and 6 months evidence showing that I have a stable income would be required to obtain a finance visa. I was actually planning on showing about £2,500. Also, I was going to show 6 months worth of bank statements with a gradual increase of savings over the 6 months (to indicate spare cash but also the ability to include another person in my budget).

For this I am planning to open a savings account and simply transfer a few hundred or so every month whilst showing the other account always in credit, despite any direct debits or bills paid.

Now, do I need the savings before the 6 months worth of bank statements?
