Just got back from visiting my wife in Philippines for Christmas and New Year and to also submit our application for her Spouse/Settlement Visa.
I thought that I was being efficient in the way I presented our application. On the checklist it lists the order of the documents to be supplied, the Application Form, payment, photographs and then different sections of documents numbered 1 to 11. So I prepared all these items then put them in a ring binder with tab inserts numbered 1 to 11 with relevant documents/items in the right section. For items such as Airline Boarding Cards and other small items (as originals) I put these in a separate plastic wallet to keep them together and separate and put these in the folder. I also put grouped pictures ie. our wedding, individual holidays, our house, etc into plastic wallets also with a title sheet indicating what they contained.
Once this was done I then copied all items as directed and made a duplicate folder and indicated that this was the 'Copy'
When we went to submit the application she was told to remove all the items from the folders, remove the 'Tab' inserts and take all items out of the plastic wallets. So all that was left was a pile of papers.
