    Hello from a newbie

    Good evening all,
I'm an Englishman with a Filipina G/f. We met last Autumn when I was in Singapore on holiday. I've just returned from a trip to Manila and the Visayas and am going back again in the Spring. I live in the UK, and she is now back in the Philippines.
I have lots of questions, but won't ask in this post, just wanted to introduce myself. I'll check through the older posts as my questions may be answered there.
Hope to get some good advice from you

hello englishman, welcome to the forum
God grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change, the courage to change the things i can and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people i had to kill because they pissed me off.

Hello and welcome by the way! Do you have a first name?! That's quite a few holidays in a few months! I've forgot what a holiday feels like it was so long ago!

Evening, you can't have too many holidays, lol. I do travel quite a bit, but i dont go out wasting money in pubs in the UK. I will probably go out to the Phils another 2 or 3 times this year, funds permitting. I dont think bringing her over here is an option with the restrictions on tourist visas, and its too early to bring her here as a fiancee.
My g/f was singing in a karaoke club for the locals just off the Sarangoon road and Jalan Besar. I was staying just around the corner and only went in for a quick beer. Falling in love was the last thing on my mind. Well, I'm not complaining, she's a very loving and affectionate person and really takes good care of me. I used to laugh when people said that once you've had an asian girlfriend you'll never want another western girl. I can see why now.

    Welcome to the forum

And goodluck to U and Ur Girlfriend
It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good to check up once in a while to make sure you haven't lost the things that money can't buy.

Thanks for your warm welcomes. No wedding bells yet, still early days, but who knows what will happen in the future. we had a great time together a few weeks ago, and I'm heading out there again in April, and hopefully in Aug/sept and Dec/Jan. Long term commitments would be easier to make if we could spend more than a few weeks together and got 2 know each other better, but i think a UK tourist visa or work permit is out of the question, as my g/f doesn't have a regular job in the Phils and whilst i have sufficient means to support her while she is here, unless i'm mistaken i dont think the visa people are too keen on tourist visas for unskilled Filipina's?????

You can get tourist visas, you just need enough evidence to satisfy them that she'll be returning. She'll need return flights etc etc. But it does have to be completed properly. Drop a message on my profile if you want more info.
    Welcome to the website :-)

Thanks for that Ricky. I tried to send you a message but I dont have enough posts yet.

My question is as follows. I would like my g/f to come to the UK for a couple of months later on this year, firstly to see how we get on for such a long time together and secondly to see what she thinks of it here and if she feels she could settle in the future?. She's never been out of Asia before, and although she is very westernised, speaks fluent American, living in the Uk is still very different to living in Manila or working in Singapore.
I'm not keen on a fiancee visa, as I'm not ready to make that commitment yet. We need to get to know each other better first.
As far as a tourist visa goes, she will have a return ticket, i have a good job, my own property, a good income and more than enough to support her during her stay. I can prove its a genuine relationship, we met last Sept in Singapore, and I've just come back from 10 days in the Phil's. We've chatted online everyday since October, and I've saved transcripts of every chat, sms or e-mail between us, just in case they are ever needed as proof of a genuine relationship.
She doesn't have a regular or skilled job in the Phil's, and I've read that this will go against her because of the fear she will stay here and just disappear.
Is it worth us trying to get a tourist visa? I dont want to waste money if it's a non starter. I'd rather use the money on a flight over to the Phils.
Thanks in advance of a reply
