You cant just destroy a whole planet just like that !

Mad as a hatter ! (the expression came from mercury poisoning due to compounds used in making hats 2 to 3 centuries ago)
It's actually the most toxic metal on THIS planet after plutonium
It affects every system in the body but poisoning's uncommon now and should be minimised as more countries (including European Union) eventually ban it
REALLY, Alan? ... I hadn't realised that! I mean, I was aware of its extremely high level of toxicity ... but never knew it had been used in hat-making. It just goes to show that ... even at MY late stage in life ... I'm still learning new things, thanks to people like your goodself!
Continuing on this theme ... that's just one example of the benefits of a forum such as ours; it's much more than simply a 'helpline' - it's an EDUCATION in itself - a learning curve in which we can ALL share ... picking up innumerable snippets of useful information as we go along!!!
To be fair, I've given the most likely of a few explanations of the expression "Mad as a hatter" Not one that's used much these days But reading some threads can lead to sudden changes of mood - that's mercurial !
When I was a wee lad I used to play with mercury from broken thermometers - it was great fun!! It hasn't done me any harm - I mean - you all know how sane I am!
Al.
Pressed rat and warthog closed down their shop!
A bullet is fairly toxic!
They would die from internal haemorrhage due to rupture of the heart muscle by the bullet, not poisoning !
Yes, I realised you were "messin" , I know nothing about football Correct use of language was essential in my career - imagine for example if my report on a sample had said "evidence of cancer" when I meant "no evidence ..."
But, keeping to the thread, I never diagnosed a case of mercury poisoning in 35 years , either in the UK or Far East
What if it was lead bullet? Lead is a poison!
yes of course i'm messin lead is a culmative poison of course, and yes i'm going off topic as most of the topics on here usually do it is what makes this forum fun as well as being informative.
