Visa and newly wed name change

hello everyone in this forum..me and my wife got married just last month. We are going to apply for her spouse visa soon, but the problem is she has a passport already with her maiden name, so I was wondering what others had to do as far as name changing official documents like passports etc after they got married to a Filipina and if they done so before applying for the visa.

she can use her current passport for visa application if u want to apply soon. or she can amend her passport by changing her maiden name. But i guess u need a little before u can get NSO copy of marriage certificate as sometimes it takes 2 months or so.

If you already have your marriage certificate (NSO copy) and she wants to use her married name she needs to attend the CFO seminar before she can renew her passport. Others chose not to renew their passport when they applied for their spouse visa as long as it still has 6 months validity.

Thanks for the info guys, you have both been of help, was just a bit worried about whether we should try and get all important documents amended first.

Out of interest do they just amend her passport or does she have to have a totally new one.

Another question related to Visa application, where my wife needs a legalized copy of my passport included in her application, can i get that from the British embassy, or do I need to use a lawyer, and if so does anyone know of a reputable one in Manila?

Unless they've changed the rules recently, I think you'll find that a good quality high resolution scan of your passport will suffice and it doesn't need to be notarized as they can check if it's legit through the passport number etc. When my wife applied for her spouse visa this is what we submitted and it was accepted.

Nothing "complex" here ... as others have explained in their various ways. Good luck with your wife's spousal visa application.
