your husband *isn't allowed in the VFS building anyway - I went with my (filippino) husband and had to sit and wait on the steps outside the building!
... *this seems to be a common misconception among applicants ... because I WAS able to accompany my wife to the VFS check-in desk ... although did have to take a seat in the Waiting Area while she had her biometrics done.
