    Life in Briatin

Does anyone have any good reasons to remain in this country?? I can't think of many, I can come up with plenty to leave though ;D

    Anyway, good things........

The NHS, some people complain, it's been great for me, and compare it to every other country in the World, it's still No.1 for value.

    Little corruption.

Plenty of markets to keep prices competitive. Most electronic stuff is the same price as Singapore now, it used to be aroud 150%-200% dearer.

    .....
    Regards,

    Keith & Ping

    Good things:

    - The roads and pavements don't look like they've been the victim of American 'friendly fire'.

    - People driving around in their cars have, in most cases, got a license which they obtained after taking a test, rather than handing over 200 pesos to the dodgy official at the sub office in the province, and can therefore drive without risking life and limb on every single journey.

    - No jeepneys and trikes.

    Bad things:

    - Supermarkets and shopping malls don't insist all their staff are female, under 25, attractive and forced to wear mini skirts

    - Films don't come out here until 3 months later than everywhere else. Even Manila is more ahead than London for film releases!

    - A Big Mac meal for one costs more than a McDonalds birthday party for 5 kids in Manila.

    - The women are all minging. Once you've had asian, you'll never again go caucasian ;D

    Bad:
Shop assistants are arrogant, no manners, and obviosuly would like to be anywhere else.

Hunma rights!! HA HA...more like Criminal & Terrorist rights!

    Good:
Decent customer laws when something goes wrong.

    Bad:

Girls in Asda dont look like the girls in SM and call you "Mate"

Good: can at least earn a decent living.

Bad: Pizza meals cost £14.00 for a Mediium pizza with garlic bread and 2 bottles of red rock.

you can feed 6 or more for that in Pizza Hut Manila or provinces.

Good: dont have to wait an hour to buy something like a hairbursh, then watch 3 girls pack it in a bag, then watch it being stapled with the receipt, then let the security guard check it in and out, (an exageration but you get the point)

Good: The NHS, being so concerned with saving money, doesn't send you for needless medical tests just to bump up the income.

Bad: The NHS, being so concerned with saving money, refuses to send you for essential medical tests unless you can prove you're only 15 minutes away from death's door.

Good: It's free to see your GP.

Bad: It's impossible to get an appointment.

    Re: Life in Briatin

Good: When more than one person is waiting for service at the same counter, the people know instinctively that the way to get seen quicker is to form an orderly queue and be seen one at a time, rather than rugby scrum their way to the front en masse and shout until someone looks in their direction.

Good: You can walk into a shopping mall without a security guard fondling you all over. (And has anyone ever noticed that female security guards in the philippines are, without exception, the ONLY instances where you can guarantee to see an ugly filipina?)

Bad: You can't buy bottles of beer for 18p in the local store

Bad: You don't get preferential treatment simply for being a 'foreigner'

Bad: If things aren't going your way, you know there's no chance of paying an 'express fee' and getting it sorted quicker (know what I mean )

Good: You're unlikely to be seduced into buying an unwanted appliance by an attractive, flirtatious and over friendly sex siren come sales assistant.

Good: There's no jollibee so you don't need to think of a million different excuses why you should go to McDonald's instead, when the jollibee is right where you are.

Bad: There's no "hot dog on a stick". Oh mama.

Good: KFC food at least appears like it wasn't made from all the parts of the chicken that are normally thrown away.

Bad: All the filipinas here are covered from head to toe in multiple layers of winter clothing and baggy jumpers. Not a pair of denim shorts for miles around

Like the last one. The wife only wears the sexy gear in Singapore, and then the place is full of sexy asians. Can never carry enough tissues :o

So true. Same here - am awaiting the return of the sexy clothes from the wife when we return for the 'family visit'. She's going back to visit her sisters. I'm going back to visit her wardrobe.

    Re: Life in Briatin

Isn't it wonderful they don't use our razors to shave their legs ;D

Even most of the ugly Filipino's have cracking legs. Nothing a brown bag wouldn't fix

    Re: Life in Briatin

You're so correct. A darkened room would be sufficient, if a paper bag wasn't around.
