Managers cheque - what banks are accepted?

My wife has a metrobank account, but metrobank doesnt seem to be on the list of banks on the VFA website, even though on the check list dated 2007 they are listed, just wondered if anyone has any knowledge or experience of what banks are acceptable, we went to try BDO as they are on the list but was told it would take two weeks to open an account before we could get the Cheque!

The lady at the BDO said if we had a friend with an account they could get the cheque for us, I thought this sounded odd, does the cheque not need to be in the name of the person with an account?

    Any help please!
    thanks!

Thanks @donnabelvaldeo, but are you saying you can get from those banks without needing an account, I know there on the list of banks on VFS website? When we asked at BDO the lady said we would need an account whichever bank we went to, and as we don't really wanna delay the application another two weeks I hope this isn't the case! Should have applied a month ago!

    Visa application fees

The visa application fee is payable for each applicant, including children, for the visa categories listed below.

Validity of Visa Application Fee Payment:

With immediate effect visa fees must be paid with a Manager's Cheque (Bank Draft)

All other payment modes are temporarily suspended until further notice.

A manager's cheque may be obtained from any branch of Standard Chartered Bank, Bank of Philippine Islands, and Banco De Oro. You may also obtain a manager's cheque even without an account through one branch of Union Bank located at Ground Floor, Priscilla Building, Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City.

The bank will charge an amount for the purchase of manager's cheque.

Only Manager's Cheque in favour of "British Embassy Manila" and with the correct visa fee shall be accepted.

You may schedule an appointment on this website on the same day you purchase a manager's cheque.

Important: Dependants are charged the same fee as the main applicant. All dependants who are travelling must pay the fee whether or not they are included in the main applicant's passport.

Refunds: A fee will be refundable only if the application is withdrawn in writing prior to any processing of the application and biometrics have not been taken, or if the applicant refuses to provide biometrics. Refunds will not be given if long term visit visas are granted for less than the period applied for. for.

These fees are effective for all visa applications made from 12 April 2010. The consular rate of exchange is PHP72.00 to £1

Thanks Cheeky I have read that many times, was good they updated the rate finally from php75 to php72 to the pound, means my wifes visa will be almost 2k cheaper. I had forgotten that I can travel to Makati and get managers cheque, but was really hoping I wouldn't have to do that, still hoping someone might have used Metrobank instead!

i did the same thing...my brother has an account in BPI and requested one for me...my application is under process now so it means the payment is OK. managers check is as good as cash and always deducted against the asset of the issuer bank and not against the account of someone who requested it.
