    My flight has been cancelled

What a nightmare !!!! My morning flight to Amsterdam has been cancelled, and with the restrictions in place until at least 13.00 BST, there is no way I am going to get to Amsterdam in time for my flight to Manila at 13.10 BST (14.10 local time).
I have been on hold to KLM for 2 hours and about to give up now. I really don't know if they can bump me on to the flight on Sat or Sunday. I'm also booked onto a flight from Manila to Tacloban on Monday morning, so if I can't get out on Sunday all of my onward plans are screwed too.
The only positive is my flight to Boracay isnt until Thursday lunchtime, so as long as I can get out by Wednesday, my plans aren't completely screwed.
It's my g/f's birthday on Saturday, so I'm not going to get there in time for that now.
Time to open the Glenfiddich me thinks

so sorry to hear that, i hope you can fly soon ...
God grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change, the courage to change the things i can and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people i had to kill because they pissed me off.

If you have travel insurance, it's worth giving them a call about the onward flights, you may be covered.

I will wait and see what happens, the internal flights in the Phil's didn't cost much anyway, plus I booked them on my Nationwide Credit card, so I'm assuming that I'm covered by them also?

Wouldn't matter if you did get to Holland, most of their airports are grounded as well.

Still waiting for news from my travel agent to see if they have bumped me on to another flight over the weekend or early next week.

I've spoken to my insurers, Columbus Direct and Nationwide my Credit Card company. I've also contacted my Hotel in Manila.

As things stand I have not abandoned my plans and am trying to get another flight over the next few days.

I got a surprisingly good response from Columbus, they said their underwriters, The Professional Travel Insurance Company Ltd are treating it as a weather related event, not an Act of God and would not try to use small print to wriggle out of paying claims.

Columbus said that they would compensate me at £25 for each full 12 hours of my delay, plus they would refund in full any losses on internal flights and hotels.

Not bad for an annual worldwide multi trip policy costing £28.99 on moneysupermarket.com

Best Western Hotel in Manila were also very understanding, they have said that they will not be charging the card I used to secure my booking with.

Nationwide on the other hand were unhelpful, they said their policy was that customers would have to seek refunds from the airlines and hoteliers.

As things stand, I haven't lost any money yet, assuming I can get another flight by Sunday and make my connection to Tacloban on Monday afternoon.

Will keep you posted on how I get on.
