... when I w're a lad, cheese was a commodity most people could rely upon as being relatively affordable. And, in an age of post-war austerity, many kids ate bread and cheese sandwiches - routinely provided in their lunch boxes.
But, like bread, it ain't cheap any longer... and nowadays [as a pensioner] I've resorted to buying only when it's on special offer ... which, I suppose, is just as well - in the light of my high cholesterol count!
My preferences remain unchanged, however ... having long favoured mild cheddar and Dutch Cheeses like Edam and Gouda.
