    Smile Car Insurance

    Hi chaps,

Is anyone in the insurance game?

As most of you will know, I was in the Phils. for over two years. I have now discovered that if you haven't driven over here for two years, you lose all your no claims bonus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have about 30 years of claim free driving behind me but I now find I must start all over again - or not - as I cannot afford the premiums I am being quoted!

Is this to be another chapter in my 'what else can go wrong for me' saga?

    Hi Alan,

I was in the USA for 4 years and came back and lots offered me 60% ncb
This was 8 years ago, maybe it has changed.
My advice would be to phone about 15 companies and get quotes from all.
A pain in the but worth it in the end.
After the first few quotes you get into the swing and can speed them up

    hi Alan,

It was the same with my motorbike insurance, if it's not uses within 24 months you loose all your no claims. Look at it like this, you have saved money by not insuring, it's no consolation, I know!

If you had car insurance while you were abroad and the company has links to a UK company then they may still recognise your NCB. You willneed to check your previous insurance and do a bit of digging on the internet to see if there is a UK link.

If you are over 50 then Saga used to hvae this scheme but I don't know if they still do. It is worth a call as the sales numbers are freephone.

Try chatting to a broker, whilst they take comission, they might know a good loophole or a company which will honour your no claims.
