What the heck is this on my laptop??

Been driving me mad for weeks now this has. Virus, malware whatever it is it redirects sites and doesnt make any sense. if it was taking me to some dodgy porn site i could understand but its always legit popular sites. example below im trying to get on facebook, and here's what I get:

This is probably not the site that you are looking for!
You attempted to reach www.google.com, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as a248.e.akamai.net. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of www.google.com. You should not proceed.

I've tried every kind of trojan killer, antivirus, running spybot search & destory brings up a few things which, once removed, usually fixes it for a few hours, but then its back to the same again. I've searched and searched and nothing seems to kill it once and for all. i think the last resort is going to be a reformat

anybody else ever come across this?

    Hi Eddie:
Clear your DNS cache: Run > (type): command > ( type ipconfig /flushdns

    try: Open DNS
    try: https://www.facebook.com

Facebook's Revamped Privacy Settings Raise Concerns

Facebook users who don't adjust their new privacy settings will open the floodgates for their status updates to be publicly available on the Internet with settings that automatically default to "everyone," raising concerns among some privacy advocate groups.
As of Wednesday, 350 million Facebook users will receive prompts from the social network requesting that they review and update their privacy settings when they log into their profile. Ignoring the prompts will automatically default privacy settings to "everyone" mode -- meaning that everyone in the network will have access to information shared on the site.

Upon logging in, Facebook users will be treated to a transition tool, which will direct them to update old privacy settings, while offering suggested new settings.
As of late, Facebook has been undergoing some changes in the privacy arena. Prior to the updated privacy setting changes, the social networking site eliminated its regional networks earlier this month.

i've experienced that same problem 3 years ago and it was completely out of control... i know it cost a lot to get it fixed and repaired but what else can you do?

i have mine sorted out and it was obviously a relief!

i recommend you to reformat your system to get rid of all the viruses and malicious malwares and spywares.. you will no longer use your laptop if you won't reformat it.
Taka care now & Bye!.... Venus

look at your registary, something has been put there to do this, hackers tend to choose easy targets like yahoo, face book, twitter etc to hack, if you cant spot it in your registary then its easy to clean the hard-drive and reinstall windows, back up everything you want to save
Once done ,you are advised to get back online to windows and update your windows wether its xp or vista etc, you will be suprized then how quick the computer has become after this, make sure that you have the correct disc to do this.

I was chatting via a webex to a group of IT uni students who are in the same class as one of my Wifes brother/sister friends (or something like that) as part of a lesson the friend organised. As well as doing a talk on our products and company etc. We had an open chat on IT while waiting for some latecomers.

Anyway most of them it seems had steered away from XP/vista in the class and use ubuntu and recomend/ actually installed on many of their friends and families pc's ubuntu. From many others at my workplace with contact with friends and families developing nations many are also using open source as for basic web browsing im and the odd document its less hassle, cheaper and far less prone to a lot of the malware floating about. Plus no worries about licensing etc.
I read the other day Malaysia government IT is now 97 percent open source and hope for a 100 percent soon. Brazill and many other countries are also having far higher numbers of open source users it seems as well.

Many in phill even if they "pay" for the os get a priate version i have noticed and im surprised how many phills suffer far more from viruses n malware in general than we do in the UK. Plenty of PC shop repaired pc's seem to come back with malware on them from what the students mentioned..

The only time my Wifes PC seems to come under attack is sadly from her Phill family and friends
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops

I solved the problem just by returning to the UK. As i thought at the time it was related to the building i was in.
